Forums - General - The Sarah Palin Thread.

This sexist argument that I keep seeing on the TV quarter boxes is going to backfire, big time.

It would be smart for them to let the left bully her, and let the people decide. But, I think, calling people sexist is going to turn off real voting republicans who like to look past gender and don't like the inflammatory talk.

(fictional) Example of recent interview:

Q: What about McCain's lack of executive leadership?
A: How dare you question the patriotism of a POW survivor??!!?!!?!?

Q: What about Palin's lack of foreign policy experience?
A: How dare you pick on a candidate, just because she is a woman?!?!?!?!?!?

The McCain/Palin camp is making it into a divisive campaign, indeed.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

That's funny. Palin said Hillary whines, and that women shouldn't complain, but should just shut up and work harder. If she complains now she's a hypocrite. So I guess her defenders will play victim and whine about sexism in her stead.

'October Surprise' Over Palin Investigation? at ABC News.

"Likely Damaging" Report on Governor Scheduled for Release Days Before November Election

Palin's lawyer (who can cost up to $90,000 of Alaskan taxpayer money to defend Palin) is trying to stall the trial until after the election, and won't let the investigator have an interview with Palin. The investigator says he'll travel anywhere in the country, and the lawyer says "it's bad timing." The investigator says he'll get subpoenas.

That youtube vid is hilarious.

I can't find the short clip:

She says, "I am proud that America's first female vice president will be a Republican woman." at the RNC.

I don't see why they would want to make this about gender?

Palin's state reaps the windfall profits McCain decries at the San Francisco Chronicle.

Welcome to the People's Republic of Alaska, where every resident this year will get a $3,200 payout, thanks in no small measure to the efforts of Sarah Palin, the state's Republican governor. That's $22,400 for a family of seven, like Palin's.

That's funny.  I thought our economy was doing poorly.  I got a stimulus package of $300 this year.  Every single person in Alaska gets 10 times that much?

As oil prices approached (and then passed) $100 per barrel (pretty much) everyone in the world started to freak out ... In regions like Alberta and (I suspect) Alaska, which generate a lot of the oil that is used in the world, there were large groups of voters who started to demand that royalty rates on oil should be increased. Being that resources are owned by the province in Canada, and by the State in the United States (from my understanding), it is up to the province/state to determine what royalties they recieve and how they spend them; and they will face the consequences (locally) if they increase the royalty rates too high.

If you want to see the difference royalty rates make, look at oil and natural gas exploration between Alberta and Saskatchewan ... In spite of having similar quantities of resources, it looks like the resources end at the Alberta border. It has only been in the past couple of years when oil exploration in Saskatchewan has really taken off mainly due to the moronic actions of Ed-Stelmach in Alberta and the explosion in oil prices.

Well yeah... you didn't know that?  Everyone in Alska gets money for oil company drilling in public land.

It's no different form someone complaining one state has an advantage in healtchare, or  job market then another state.

They're just using there national resources to their advantage.

Apologies if this has already been posted. This is by far the best Sarah Palin video:

Alaska has been doing that off-and-on for well over ten years (that I know of). It's their money, they can do with it as they please.

As for "People's Republic", it seems as if some people forget that, yes, this is a Republic. That's Alaska's money; if they see fit to give it back to the populace, good for them.

If you don't like it, move to Alaska and reap the benefits of their natural resources. What are you implying they should do with the money, give it to the Federal government? So they can waste Alaskan money on non-Alaskans? It's funny that you call them the "People's Republic of Alaska" and you're the one implying they should practice the Communistic trait of spreading money to those that live in other parts of the country...
