The article specifically addresses "the debate."
The claim is she tried to ban books.
The facts are: 1)someone or some group complained about a book and wanted action. 2)Sarah Pailin, as mayor, asked the librarian what the policy was.
The facts don't support the claim.
If the librarian being asked to reapply for her position is going to be your bone of contention, then you have to 1st explain why other department heads where also asked to also reapply and why the complianing group's desire for banning was not mentioned.
This is classic synthesis. It's not a story and you're trying to fit the sparse details into some kind of narrative. Asking what the policy for banning a book is does not equal an intent to ban a book.
