Forums - General - The Sarah Palin Thread.

Sarah Palin has turned politics into a big soup opera. This is better than anything Days of Our Lives could ever throw at us.

Mother hides teens pregnancy, fakes her own. Mother actually was pregnant, but teen is pregnant too. Did she have an affair with her husband's friend? Tries to fire ex-brother in law, but his boss declines. Fires his boss instead.

Indeed... I'm an outsider in all of this, but I have to wonder whether McCain really knew about all of this stuff.

The key questions are:

1- Does Sarah Palin bring enough positive things to his campaign to counter all this crap? It doesn't seem so... The "she has executive experience" argument only goes so far...

2- Do you think this woman is capable of being the president? If she goes on a diplomatic mission, would that be the first time she travels outside the US? She'd be one step away from the presidency, and not a terribly big step since McCain isn't exactly the most athletic of candidates.

To me, McCain's decision seems almost like giving up. If I'm wrong and they win, I think we're in for an hilariously bad 4 years.

My Favorites:

FORMER ARKANSAS GOV. MIKE HUCKABEE: Palin "got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States."

THE FACTS: A whopper. Palin got 616 votes in the 1996 mayor's election, and got 909 in her 1999 re-election race, for a total of 1,525. Biden dropped out of the race after the Iowa caucuses, but he still got 76,165 votes in 23 states and the District of Columbia where he was on the ballot during the 2008 presidential primaries.

and

PALIN: "The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars."

THE FACTS: The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama's plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain's plan, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded.

Obama would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mainly for poor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers and higher credits for larger families.

He also would raise income taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes on the wealthiest. He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

And this one's good too.

And I added some stuff to the OP.

I only got to see Guiliani's and Palin's speech. Some observations:

Her middle daughter is really hott. (quick someone find a 4chan pedobear pick)

Britsol has the biggest rack I've ever seen on a 17 year old.

Spending 1000's on a giant TV to show weird slideshows and a flag screensaver seems... wasteful

oh and Rudy and Sarah layed Obama/Biden out and then beat them in the face with a 2x4 for about 90 minutes.

The speech was done by Bush handlers and rehearsed for nearly a week. She has been locked away and knew that speech backwards and forward. Based on that, while the speech was good and her delivery was great, it really is nothing but a double into center field. That's it. Catching her offguard, in the field, is what I am waiting for.

@ Kitler - yeah, troopergate is huge - it was the single reason why I had predicted she wouldn't be chosen. McCain was thinking wit his wanker, not his brain.

It will only get worse.

Wow...all Sarah Palin did in her speech was sling mud left and right and talk the same old war stories. Any idea how we students can secure loans for the upcoming school year? Seem like the republicans are really lacking in substance. All they seem to be able to do is attack Obama's character.

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

If you added up all the substance from both conventions and put it into a video you could post it on youtube without coming close to the single video time limit; if you only took new announcements you could (probably) fit it into a 10 second clip.

Palin delivered a typical convention speech which humanized her quite a bit, and she came across as being very confident and looked like a leader ... This is what the Republicans were looking to accomplish, and being that I saw (on CNN of all places) several pundits ask whether John McCain was going to be overshadowed by Palin I think she did an excellent job.

Total accident. Then I was gonna turn it into a placeholder and say something in a minute. I uh, I'm a little confused. There were too many brothas at the convention. I'm trying to format my sig in a couple ways.

P.S. Sarah Palin something something.

I have a splitting headache because of those fucking brothas.
