Why does everyone bash SMS? It had no flaws. It was basically an improved-graphics version of SM64 plus the innovative water mechanic, with the penalty being that there were very few "story" stars compared to the "revisiting" ones. But Super Mario Galaxy had just as much of an issue with that, and I don't see much complaining...

And bad voice acting/bad story doesn't count. They are intended only to set the scene, not make the game meaningful.

 Contradiction?

Other than that, SMS > SM64

It's not a contradiction - I don't think "there wasn't enough of it" can be considered a flaw. The hypothetical best game ever would leave you wanting more, but that doesn't make it flawed. As I said, SMG was as short as SMS, but it wasn't pointed out in the reviews.

People need to stop hating on Sunshine. I mean sure the mini-levels where Fludd was taken away was the best part of the game, but to me those levels constituted platforming at it's best on any 3-D Mario game. Even the music was awesome half Mario half Scooby Doo.

This. Some of the best and most satisfying 3d platforming was done in those levels.

It's my opinion (stolen from Yahtzee, like all good ones) that Nintendo made Galaxy consist entirely of the gameplay style from those levels.
