I've said it many times. I can't get this. I don't have a PS3 currently, and I don't like the look of the game enough to make me want to play it without even a rental. I do think it will sell well, and I also think it might top the gamerankings review scores, because critics would feel like hypocrites, were they to give it anything but perfect scores, after the ravings they've done over the previews.

This game, like Halo 3, and probably Fallout 3, Gears 2, and Resistance 2, are all destined to get AAA review scores, no matter how good or bad they are.

Games like RE5 are also pigeonholed as AA games only, due to their lack of innovation over the last iteration, and generalized impressions from demos, no matter how good, or bad they are. This, despite hyped games such as GTAIV, and Halo 3, which are also replicas of their previous entries, being hyped to hell and given perfect scores.

I think Sackboy is a good idea, they are very versatile.... then again, maybe too much. Any mascot can be versatile, but when that is their main point, you don't have a base to identify to.... still I like the idea of them everywhere PS.

Then again, I think the game will flop.

Sackboy is a sack of shit. May he forever be crucified on a torched cross. He will never... EVER stand atop the throne with Mario, Sonic, and Crash. Crash is Sony's mascot. I don't care if he's gone on other consoles. He will always be Sony's goto boy. Not this Sack-o-crap. He will fade away, and forever be forgotten in time. He's ugly. Doesn't work. And I don't like him.

 Sony has had too many games with far more interesting characters in its time. Nintendo did the right job with the NES by having the first game EVER be Mario/Duck hunt. Same for Sega with Sonic. Sony started out with Crash and dropped him when the franchise has sold more than 20 M.

Sony did not "drop" Crash.  They never owned him in the first place.

 

Sony dropped Crash. They are a subsidiary of Sony.

 

Nope.. naughty dog sold the franchise.

Crash used to be epic though.. now it's not even coming out for the ps3.. the franchise has died.

 

In either case. Sony has not 1 mascot but rather many.

The problem with Sony is that they allowed the 3rd party games to get far more air time than the 1st party. The 3rd generation is when they plan on focusing on 1st party after half of their top 3rd party jumps ship and they have no more 3rd party security.
