Forums - General Discussion - Palin's Husband Has DWI

Note:

The Obama camp explicably had nothing to do with this. The McCain campaign released this information voluntarily. It is unfair to accuse the Obama camp of bringing this to light without some evidence that they did so.

The media is as interested in this stuff as either one of the camps.

Sure isn't looking that way considering the  wealth of untapped info out there for Biden that has long fallen under the radar.

In some ways McCain asked for this.  You can't pick a VP with almost no political track record, otherwise people are really going to scrutinize your choice's personal life even further.  Everything that happened this weekend was a forseeable result of his choice.  I guarantee you wouldn't have seen this happen if Lieberman or to a lesser degree Romney (only because he is a Mormon if there would have been any kind of slander) had been the choice.

I am completely open to any debate about Biden's personal life and how it would affect his involvement in the administration.  But people won't care about that as much because he has a political track record they can look at to see where he stands and what he represents.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Ignore everything I said because you aren't smart enough to debate it, great tactic Bursche.

You should really stop insulting people's intelligence, especially after you got your ass handed to you so badly in the Kennedy thread a few days ago.

Lay off with the attitude toward anyone who disagrees with you.

Romney it would have.  They likely would of more ran stories about the two different Romney's however.

Liberman it wouldn't have since they would be too busy running stories about how the super conservative right are freaking out.

To claim that a DWI that someones husband did has any bearing on someone governing a country is a complete BS statement and you know it.

I bet if she were a man they wouldn't of even ran the story if his wife had the DWI.

Also the "fake pregnancy" conspiracy that could of eaisly been fact checked in a matter of minutes?

It's just a witch hunt.  It's silly and unattractive.

Heck you wouldn't even need to dig into the personal life of Biden.  You'd just need to replay the things he said in the Primaries.

Or the things he said in his vote for the iraq war. (Being one of the Iraq wars strongest supporters.)

There is enough relevant stuff to get on Biden about you wouldn't have to worry about personal BS.

Not that it matters even.  Since the Vice Presidentcy is a job with no political sway or usefulness at all.  I think Teddy Roosevelt said "It's not the stepping stone to the presidency, it's the stepping stone to oblivion."

If Dany Quayle can do it... anyone can.

BTW, for everyone making a big deal about this:

According to my maths, Sarah married this guy four years after the DWI. Big-fucking-deal.

Seriously, this is news?

Good investigative work.

No, this isn't the most important news in the world, and I personally could care less if Michelle Obama or Cindy McCain had a DWI, but some people will care, even though it shouldn't affect their appreciation of a candidate.

The McCain campaign was the one who told reporters too, so I am happy that they choose to do so.  Just shows they are being honest.

@Kaz

Exactly, people aren't scrutinizing Biden's personal life because he has plenty of political baggage already.  It is partially McCain's fault for picking someone with such a slim political record that things have blown up in the last day or two.

And in the case of the investigation of the pregnancy, there was fire where there was smoke, as her daughter is pregnant.  It may not have been as people originally speculated, but there was something there that a lot of people didn't know about.

Shows how 'intelligent' you are, you get on to me for a attacking people then personally attack me in the same sentence.  Classy.

No, I did not get my ass handed to me.  From what I recall you own me a small tuition fee for the education.

So your saying.... if you can't make up any real faults.... make them up?   You can't take anyone based on their issues?

Attidue like that is what is wrong with the political process.  Well partially anyway.

Manus Justus please STFU. In the words of the great Akuma "you are spewing childish mindless drivel"... and you like hitler.

Also Akuma, Anus Justus, and Madskillz are acting just ridiculous. From calling people ignorant childish fools when they fight back, to blindly accepting riduculous claims about someone.

I know that since Leftist Ideas are viewed to be progressive and all it make you like? cool, or daring... or someone on the edge right! Seriously you guys are badass. I mean if I were full of as much badassness as you I would be seaching for pointless things to say about Obama. But I have not arrived yet, some day I will open my eyes and accept the socialistic utopia where post-modern thought rules all... until that day however.... digress.
