Seriously this is getting ridiculous.

Your mother in law not voting for you is a pretty big deal.  Do you have a mother in law?  Imagine her not voting for you if were selected as vice president.

If someone votes for you just because your in the same family that person is not taken his responsibility as a voter serious.

I wouldn't want my own mother to vote for me if she agreed with the other guy more.

You aren't voting for the candidate it's not some sort of bullshit popularity contest like American Idol..

It's about who's policies are best for the country.

The whole "I like him better" arguement is what got us stuck with Bush.  Everyone wanted to vote for the guy they could have a beer with.

What's a DWI again? Is it the same or similar to a DUI?

It depends on state to state.  It's the same in some states, worse in others, and not as bad in others.

I think most people in Alaska are Independents, but they all vote Republican.

The mother-in-law thing is slightly news, in the "hahaha her own family won't support her, why would the country" kind of way.

Not too big of a deal.

There's bigger fish to fry with the teen pregnancy that will destroy her image and career.
She'll write a book about it and get rich in a few years though.

Ummmm...Sarah Palin isn't the one whose pregnant... her daugher is!  How does that in any way impact SARAH PALIN's career?

And somebody on one of the news channels i was watching brought up a very good point... suppose Chelsea Clinton got pregnant while Bill was still presedent.. should Hillary have then been disqualified or unable to run for Senate because of her daughter???  Me thinks not, so why should Sarah Palin not be able to run for VP because of a choice her daughter made?

And the irony is this will probably help Sarah out because her daughter is doing the responsible thing by getting married and raising it as opposed to taking a trip to Genocide 'R Us Planned Parenthood and aborting it.  Funny thing to is Barack Obama even told everyone to lay off the issue, and when The One speaks, the media listens!  Plus, Barack's mom had him when she was 18 and she was unwed at the time... does that make her a bad person or a bad mom?  Somehow I don't think any of you Obama supporters would say that (and rightfully so)  so how the hell does this issue make Sarah Palin a bad mom/unfit for office/current most EEEEEVIL person in America according to the mainstream media?!?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

It doesn't really have any impact on her career. Though it is worth a question in the debate on if she still thinks absitinence only birthcontrol is the only way to work.

It certaintly isn't anything that should be constantly harped on for political gain. I mean that's just ugly.

The last couple days were needlesly traumatizing for her daughter I imagine.

Really it's probably the worst political move i've seen since the "John McCain black baby" incidient.

Unless the "Secret Muslim" thing was actually some sort of political move started by someone.

Then it's a tossup... the Secret Muslim thing is worse on the face.... but at least it's attacking the man... and not someoens daughter.

I think the "secret Muslim" thing is quite a bit worse, because it is directed towards the candidate himself, and there's currently a much larger stigma in the U.S. of A. associated with Muslims right now than there is with teenage pregnancy. (Probably because the xenophobic population base has never met anyoen who is Muslim, but you can't get your mail without bumping into a preggo teenager.) It's also far more baseless than the bizarre circumstances surrounding the period during which someone was pregnant with that Palin kid. It may not be true, but the whole series of events definitely did raise a few eyebrows.

And I don't think anyone was really singling out the daughter in the whole scandal aspect. I think more people were concerned with the lengths that a staunch pro-life, anti-birth control politician may possibly go to to avoid losing face. If it were true, it wouldn't be the fact that the daughter was pregnant that would irk people, it would be the shady plotting and scheming that went into covering it up. I mean, if it had been true, could you possibly trust someone who had done such a thing with any kind of real authority?

The dedication you show to any particular console or company is inversely proportional to the number of times you have gotten laid. If you get laid enough, even if you prefer a certain brand, you just don't give enough of a shit to argue about it on the internet.

You think it's worse to target someone who directly agreed to be in the political spector then to target someone who just happens to be related to said person?

Also, this story wasn't about anything you stated. It was about one thing. To make people think it was true. Anyone who wanted to know the truth could of did a quick check on the birth certificate. You aren't aloud to lie on that.

Regardless it seems like a moot point since the "Secret Mulsim" thing didn't seem to be a political ploy. But just something a lot of American's naturally think of Obama. I mean he still can't shake that image when his crazy christian pastor was on TV talking about how he hated America.

I guess it's the name? I don't know.... I never really think about it myself. I've got Indian friends and it took me years to one day just think to myself "You know what... they're probably not Christians."

Same with this one Jewish kid I knew in highschool. Didn't even cross my mind he was jewish until I was in college. Wasn't really a big deal.

If the secret muslim thing was a ploy though i'd love to see who set it up, just to dislike them. It isn't quite "black baby" matieral, but it's pretty bad. Wonder if it was a democrat, since it seemed way to early in the campaign for it to be a republican ploy.

Heh, it'd be ironic if it was someone from the Biden campaign. Few people went after Obama harder.  Cause people bought it... really hard.

I mean... even Hamas thought that Obama was a secret muslim who was just playing up to jews for their "election money and votes" and would change his positions to propalestine and force Israel into concessions.

They've backed off that though... and withdrew their endorsement.  Either they wised up, or "don't want to blow it".

The most ironic part is that under some interpretations of Islamic law Obama is a Muslim... though not at all a secret one.

His father was a Muslim, though one who renounced his faith.... which would make him a Muslim in some interpretations.

What I'm saying is, if that Palin story had proved true, the troubling part isn't the fact the kid got pregnant. It would have been the fact that they essentially falsified medical records. While they can check the birth certificate, because they aren't allowed to lie on it, the whole issue would have been that they went to all this trouble to get back to a remote hospital where a doctor was working that Palin was said to have helped get their job there, to fudge the medical records. It's not illegal for a teenage girl to get knocked up. It would be illegal for her mother to utilize connections to falsify medical records.

And the "secret Muslim" thing is indeed a ploy, just like the "black baby" thing. It shouldn't make a difference, but it does to a lot of people. It's neither illegal to have an interracial baby, nor to be a Muslim, but in all honesty, there are people who are disgusted by either, which is why political strategists will float those kinds of rumors out there. And just because you "don't see religion", or whatever you were trying to go for, doesn't mean that's the case for the vast majority of Americans.

And the "interpretations" that he's a Muslim because his dad (who, BTW had no part in raising him) was a Muslim is just ridiculous. Hypothetically, my mother's mother could be Jewish, and "technically" I could be "interpreted" as being a Jew, despite me or my mother never attending anything but Christian church services. Of course, anyone with any semblance of common sense would know that your actions, not your lineage, determine your religious affiliation. But, hey, whatever you have to do to convince yourself that the whole "secret Muslim" thing is just an innocent misunderstanding.

EDIT - oops, meant to post this in another thread.
