Forums - General - Palin's Daughter IS Pregnant

Not quite as it originally seemed, but still, this does highlight some of Palin's views in a negative light.

Oh man. Oh this gets better every day.

Sex outside of marriage. The religious right aren't going to like that!

or the religious right will like the fact that Palin is not hiding this fact and taking the responsibility to take care of the baby.

If they like her they will forgive her.

Also, this news does not prove anything about parents.  some kids just make mistakes.

this election is creating a lot of buzz.

Yeah, this almost makes being wrong even funnier, because the truth is almost as bad.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I'm sure McCain knew about this when he chose her to be the V.P.
McCain got balls.

McCain didn't know. He didn't even vet her. He had a handshake and a phone call and just felt in his gut that she was "his soul mate." His words.

wait, i'm confused :so did she get pregnant before or after having recovered from mono?

this may dubunk the first rumour, but now there are more questions being asked.

We're solving that mystery in this thread.

Just replace the word "Yankees" with "Democrats"

In all seriousness, this is some horrible vetting.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Well, she did hide it for 5 months, only coming out when it was less damaging to her career than not coming out. Not that hiding it was wrong as it was her family's personal life (if the earlier rumor had been true then it would have been wrong because they wouldn't have merely shut up about a private matter but have actively covered it up) and she had a political interest in keeping it that way (as the fundies will not like this).

Also, I feel that it is about the best way they could have dealt with it (except maybe the daughter's wedding IF it is a shotgun wedding and not a decision by the two young parents) and I do not feel like it diminishes her potential capacities as VP.

As for her strange plane trip, like happySqurriel said in the other thread given that trig was premature (i.e. she was not expecting labour yet) and her water broke possibly differently than her other pregnancies then I can understand her not thinking a plane trip home would be a problem (if she did expect labor and still got on the plane then she would be negligent but hindsight can hinder as well as help sometime as we do not always kow what the person taking the decision at the time knew or didn't know).

@Akuma: about storks (hopefully you will get the reference):

@BigJon: I do not know how religious you are but for a truly religious person that believes in the truth of Bible (all of it or at least as much as they are told about it) morality is derived solely from god so that if he or his representative tells you to stone a man to death for picking up some wood on the wrong day then stoning him to death is the moral thing to do. With such a mindset why would it be hard to believe that god would do such a "mild" thing as "cursing" a whole part of mankind with a black skin when he genocided almost all of mankind just a short time before that (the genocide part being why the subsequent curse theory is mild by comparison).

Now I am not saying that it is a good thing to accept things that easily and I am not saying that Obama is such a person but it is not just a question of "my preacher said something I didn't like therefore I will leave" as most religions say that you must trust in god and ask him for understanding for what you have difficulties believing, even foregoing the use of your brain in favour of using your faith. It is a whole mental conditioning that needs to be broken down once it is in place (or somebody to point out a contradicting passage of scripture accepted by that person) as it goes against the very nature of who they are.

Also, about your response to Akuma seemingly coming from the far right, he might not necessarily but might simply be trying to judge how her family holds up against the moral system that they claim to follow. e.g. he might not have a problem if Hillary was the Dem's candidate and Chelsea became pregnant out of wedlock if the Clintons never said that it was a bad and immoral thing to do whereas with the Palin family he would have a problem because they claim that such a thing is bad and immoral. In other word he helds them up to their own moral standards to see if they pass muster not necessarily his own.

Like on a scare of 1-10 1 being conservative 10 being liberal, I would be like 4. The problem is whether you realize it or not many of you are 9s and 10s.

But to them you appear like a 1 or 2 and they might be a 6 appearing a 9 or 10 in your company. each difference on either side being accented by contrast (like putting one hand in a bowl of mildly cold water and the other in a bowl of mildly hot water makes one hand feel like in a very cold water bowl and the other feel like in a very hot water bowl).
