It is comparisons like this that start flame fest which then lead to people calling other people childish.

Lets see, Obama went to a church (which usually mean you beleive what they preach there) where the pastor common made racist and anti american remarks, which you compared to Sarah's daughter have a baby... #1 is Sarah had gotten pregnant by another man then yes. This would be a HUGE scandel. If anything this will help many American families identify with her. Her family is facing a challenge that is very common in our country, and they are handling it the right way....

I really do not see the comparison. It is about the same as the Hitler comparison you think I made.

Also to Super, the reason political flames escalate so quickly is because the material in question actually matters in the grand scheme of things... In 5 years no one is going to care if KH3 was on the Wii or PS3... but they will care about who is elected.

I think it is completely more valid to focus on immediate family members than somebody's pastor.  You LIVE with these people, so you obviously directly influence them and they directly influence you, especially a daughter who is still a minor.

How many other politicians have been criticized for their pastor?  Pretty much none.  How many have been criticized for the actions of their sons and daughters?  Quite a few more.  Is it necessarily a good thing? No, but the direct connection is there.

Alright, so we will offer this for fair comparison.  What if politician X's pastor (or former teacher, or mailman) raped and killed someone?  What if politician X's son or daughter raped and killed someone?  Which story do you think would get more traction with the news media?

You sound like you are coming from the far right on this... Most leftist believe it is okay to have sex whenever you want married or not, they just believe it is irresponsible to get pregant.

Do you go to church? I do. And if the pastor is preaching something you do not agree with YOU LEAVE. obviously Obama did not have too much problem with the message. Now what might be valid is for you to say Obama was only going to church to look religious, because religion gets votes, and therefore was disconnected from what the pastor was really saying. At best Obama is playing religion to get vote. At worst he actually is not bother by Whites message.

What? I've never seen that. If a pastor has an off day, I've never seen anyone leave. If a pastor is preaching racism and bigotry THEN it would be a little more expected of someone to leave.

Most people can accept that people have different beliefs than their own, and not everyone believes everything their religion preaches. This doesn't mean that you simply leave when the pastor is saying something trivial that you don't necesarrily believe in.

I use to go to church and I never left when I disagreed with something that was being said.  I have never seen anyone else leave either, even when the pastor said something that I knew others disagree with.  Why?  Because its rude.

I dont agree ordinary differential equations either, so when a mathematics professors brings it up I leave.  I am a supporter of unordinary differential equations though.

There certain things I would leave a church over, doctrines or if the pastor was preaching racism and bigotry. If I am going to church and my paster start preaching the theory that the Curse God put on the decendents of Ham (Noah's son) was dark skin (this really exist) I am going to leave. White was crazy things, and Obama did not leave.

I am sorry but no matter how good a parent you are you cannot force your child to do what is right. Teenagers are illogical and often do not think of the consequences of their actions. Obviously at the time Bristol thought getting laid seemed like a pretty good Idea. I am sure many of you too would have trouble turning down the opportunity to get laid by someone you are very attacted to. The only SP can do is support her daughter, and help her make the right decision.

So you agree with us that absistence only teaching is completely stupid?

Better yet: Why is it the school's responsibility to teach either side of the sex ed issue? Shouldn't sex ed be something that parents step up and discuss with their children, rather than have a state-ran school shove one opinion or another down the the kids' throat?

No wonder American kids are retarded when it comes to school studies: Schools spend more time on indoctrinating kids into one worldview or another, rather than teach the fundemental basics of schooling, and get parents to actually...Be parents.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

yea. I think kids are going to do what they are going to do. I agree with the other poster, and the parents should be the ones teaching them. But even in the best families... well teens get horney. Have no condom with get laid, pop out baby. Looks like what happened with Bristol. I am not saying this is a great thing... but it is not something that is terrible. It is only terrible when the father runs out and the mother cannot support the baby... or worse yet when the parent throw the daughter out of the house.... yes, that does happen.

Why is it the school's responsibility? Because the parents aren't doing their responsibility. They may be ignorantly conservative and think they teenage daughter wont get pregnant or they may just be negligent and not care.
