Forums - General - Palin's Daughter IS Pregnant

I am sorry that is my defense mode.

I feel like that new guy in HS this getting ganged up on because he doesn't know anyone to back him up...

Why is it a good thing this was brought to light? Now bristol and her husbend will be harassed by the media. The reason this was not public already was because they WANTED to respect the young lady's privacy.

I'm sorry, but if you are running for the second highest office in our entire country, your entire life is going to be scrutinized.  This is how elections have been since this country began (albeit we can probe into people's lives much easier now than we could).

But to act like scandals are a new thing is very short-sighted.  They have been around for hundreds if not thousands of years, same with political propaganda.

Edit: And how is this any less valid a thing to focus on than the Rev. Jeremiah Wright debacle?  He was the pastor of Obama's church, but this is Palin's DAUGHTER.  They obviously have a more direct connection.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

And as I said in the previous thread, her mother running is now in the spotlight and skeletons will come out.  The real shame is it's about everyone in her family not just her.  Why does everyone have to look at this in such a negative light?  EVERYONE makes mistakes and it's people who own up to them that will earn greater respect from me.  Bristol did the right thing with keeping the baby AND taking responsibility for her actions.

Trust me...you have enough people behind you (or with you).  Both sides do.  That's why we all have to be as respectful as possible of each other over these coming months.  The moderators already have their work cut out for them taking care of the sony/nintendo/microsoft fanboys.  These politcal discussion going from zero to flamefest in less than ten posts won't do any good for anyone.

I want to see some good political discussion happen here.  I want to see information from both sides presented rationally and respectfully...but if everyone just gets out of hand and starts behaving like monkeys throwing sh*t at each other during every thread...I guarantee you there will be a moratorium on political threads until this elction is over.

We're better than that.

@Bigjon:

People aren't ganging up on you because of your political beliefs, people gang up on you because you sometimes say illogical, unreasonable, and childish things.

It is comparisons like this that start flame fest which then lead to people calling other people childish.

Lets see, Obama went to a church (which usually mean you beleive what they preach there) where the pastor common made racist and anti american remarks, which you compared to Sarah's daughter have a baby... #1 is Sarah had gotten pregnant by another man then yes. This would be a HUGE scandel. If anything this will help many American families identify with her. Her family is facing a challenge that is very common in our country, and they are handling it the right way....

I really do not see the comparison. It is about the same as the Hitler comparison you think I made.

Also to Super, the reason political flames escalate so quickly is because the material in question actually matters in the grand scheme of things... In 5 years no one is going to care if KH3 was on the Wii or PS3... but they will care about who is elected.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

That's her. I really dont see the problem with girl being pregnant, and mother wanting to help out her daughter.

I am getting ganged up on because there are more liberials between the ages 18-30. VGChartz is filled with alot of people from the ages of 18-30. There are just more liberals here (% wise)

The funny thing is being around all of you makes me feel like limbaugh's brother... I am actually fairly in the middle. Like on a scare of 1-10 1 being conservative 10 being liberal, I would be like 4. The problem is whether you realize it or not many of you are 9s and 10s.

I think it is completely more valid to focus on immediate family members than somebody's pastor.  You LIVE with these people, so you obviously directly influence them and they directly influence you, especially a daughter who is still a minor.

How many other politicians have been criticized for their pastor?  Pretty much none.  How many have been criticized for the actions of their sons and daughters?  Quite a few more.  Is it necessarily a good thing? No, but the direct connection is there.

Alright, so we will offer this for fair comparison.  What if politician X's pastor (or former teacher, or mailman) raped and killed someone?  What if politician X's son or daughter raped and killed someone?  Which story do you think would get more traction with the news media?

You sound like you are coming from the far right on this... Most leftist believe it is okay to have sex whenever you want married or not, they just believe it is irresponsible to get pregant.

Do you go to church? I do. And if the pastor is preaching something you do not agree with YOU LEAVE. obviously Obama did not have too much problem with the message. Now what might be valid is for you to say Obama was only going to church to look religious, because religion gets votes, and therefore was disconnected from what the pastor was really saying. At best Obama is playing religion to get vote. At worst he actually is not bother by Whites message.
