Forums - Microsoft - 30% Price cut for the 360 in Japan

SONY do something!!

Sony IS doing something by promoting their bundles and by focusing on their flagship game this next two months (Little Big Planet) and all the releases around the same period as LBP.

Microsoft is using its lineup and a price cut to counter this.  To each his own, although these price cuts are getting quite annoying (if you look at it from Sony's perspective, even with improved bundles).

Makes sense. They have to find some way to push units in Japan. With RPG lineup they got software to sell them if they get a better user base.

Damn. I'm almost tempted to pick up an arcade when I get over there for Japan region games.

Does anyone know if a hard drive from an American version swaps over to a Japanese console easily?

so the 360 will officially be the cheapest console ww. if it remains the worst selling, it's going to be pure comedy.

Sounds like a good move given the extra momentum the 360 has had in Japan as of late. They've got the games and if they can accompany it with a hardware reduction they may well be able to maintain the raised sales levels in the long term. It may not be much in the grand scheme of things, but any sustained increase in Japan at this point will obviously be of benefit when microsoft acquires some more exclusive games from Japanese developers.

well instead of 3000 they will sell 4000 weekly.

When is the price cut coming?

Hopefully when IU ships, and they get more X360's en-masse to Japan. Oh, and BTW, MS won't be selling the Arcade at a loss. People forget how large the amount of cash Nintendo is making off consumers by selling the Wii at $250.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

That would be amazing IMO! Maybe they'll finally reach the million sooner in Japan that way?

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

But, doesn't the 360 contain more advanced hardware that costs more?  Where the Wii is using an upgraded GC platform.
