Forums - Gaming - Speculation about FF game teams...

It's seemed to have been like that ever since the PS era. Also it has already been confirmed that FFXIII, and Versus may have even started developement as early as 2003. I personally don't think SE has enough resources and money to be developing all of the HD and Wii games, but it does seem possible if FFCC does turn out to be part of the Final Fantasy series, and the other ones are handheld games. Then it might work out.

Edit: Also both FFXIII, and Versus were in developement for the PS2 before they became PS3 games.

That's what they are doing with the Call of Duty games so that's likely that FF games have different teams

Oh and I do think FFXIV is in early developement stages, but won't be done until next generation.

dude, why would they have a team working on XIII before they had begun work on XII? that doesn't make sense

They are one of the biggest developers in Japan, they got plenty of resources. Also, many of the games they publish aren't actually developed by them. SO4 is made by Tri-Ace and DQ IX is made by Level 5

EDIT:FFXIII and Versus were PS2 games?  That's suprises me.

you say that the team of X is making XIII, but you also say that development of XIII started right after X, but before XII; but why the hell would Square wait so long with starting the development of XII, and start 'a while' after X was completed and work on XIII had already begun..

This is 5 years old, but it might give you some idea

Production Team 1 (headed by Yoshinori Kitase)
Last Title: Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission
Current Status: A new project is in development and will be announced quite soon

Production Team 2 (headed by Akitoshi Kawazu)
Last Title: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Current Status: A new title in development here as well, but it can't be revealed to the public just now

Production Team 3 (headed by Hiromichi Tanaka)
Last Title: Final Fantasy XI Rise of the Zilart
Current Status: No new game projects were announced, the team is implementing an emergency phone system into Final Fantasy XI.

Production Team 4 (Yasumi Matsuno)
Last Title: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Current Status: An announcement regarding Final Fantasy XII will be coming forward this fall.

Production Team 5 (Yuusuke Hirata)
Last Title: All-Star Pro Wrestling 3
Current Status: No information provided.

Production Team 6 (Toshirou Tsuchida)
Last Title: Front Mission 3
Current Status: Front Mission 1st (PS One Remake) and Front Mission 4 seem to be just the beginning, as the team wants to develop the series on many different levels.

Production Team 7 (Takashi Tokita)
Last Title: Hanjuku Eiyuu Tai 3D (Hanjuku Hero VS 3D)
Current Status: New title in the works, scheduled for a 2004 release.

Production Team 8 (Kouichi Ishii)
Last Title: Shinyaku Seiken Densetsu (Sword of Mana)
Current Status: Nothing specific, but Seiken Densetsu should be established as a real fantasy series.

Production Team 9 (Ari Miyake)
Last Title: Kenshin Dragon Quest
Current Status: Being involved in Kenshin Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest Monsters, and also the main Dragon Quest series, this team is currently working on Dragon Quest VIII and gets weekly visits by series mastermind Yuuji Horii.

Production Team 10 (Yousuke Saitou)
Current Status: Consisting only of producers, the team is currently working on three projects. Its head, Yousuke Saitou, is currently involved in Final Fantasy XI. While a complete edition of Star Ocean: Till The End of Time has been discussed, no announcement has been made.

According to Wikipedia:

1 Yoshinori Kitase Final Fantasy
2 Akitoshi Kawazu Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
3 Hiromichi Tanaka Final Fantasy XI
4 Yasumi Matsuno Final Fantasy
5 Yusuke Hirata All Star Pro-Wrestling
6 Toshiro Tsuchida Front Mission
7 Takashi Tokita Hanjuku Hero
8 Koichi Ishii Mana
Enix
9 Ari Miyake Dragon Quest
10 Yosuke Saito tri-Ace-developed games

I dont know what the hell All Star Pro-Wrestling is, but I digress.

There's 2 teams working on core FF games. It appears right now both are occupied, with 13 and v13. But I guess there's always the possibility one of the other teams are working on 14, or maybe right now it's just the higher ups doing design and writing the script, and they havent started coding yet.

But yeah, very likely 14's been started in some capacity.

Really? Hm then how come they almost went bankrupt 3 times? It doesn't matter how big they are, having all these projects, especially with the HD developement costs, is taxing. They have tons of DS games in development, 3 psp games, Plenty of games for the HD consoles, and 2 wii games. Now if they are developing even more on top of that, how much rescources do you think they have left?

interesting

I think maybe they rescheduled FF CC: TCB for Wii as FF14....

for a quick profit....before making FF15 for the nex gen.
