Forums - Nintendo - How are you liking your Wii and is it what you thought it would Bii?

I've had it since launch. I rarely play it tbh (which is why I don't post a lot about the Wii), the games I did play are LoZ:TP, Wii Sports (obviously), Mario Kart Wii, Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Strikers Charged. I'm happy with it, as this is what I expected it to be, but now its going to get even less play time because of the 360's holiday line up.

Consoles Owned: XBOX 360, Wii, DS and PSP.

I like it. I play it everyday :D

@ "bii" - ./puke.

anyways, i got bored and jaded before the last generation of gaming finished. i'm pretty sure without the wii i would have given up on gaming like so many do when they get older and have more responsibilities.

nintendo has definitely delivered on the wii. 9.5/10 for me.

third parties took way too long to decide to support the wii thought. 5/10 for them. if not for zack and wiki, bloom blox, and trauma center it would be a lot lower then 5. i'm glad that's things are getting better though.

Samba de Amigo will be huge.

I had mine since launch only ever played wii sports and the tank game on wii play other games just did not interest me too much apart from some VC like bomberman, super street fighter 2 turbo. I ended up giving it to my mum because she is a huge fan of bomberman and Wii sports tennis and boxing. I sorta got bored with it.

I love my Wii; it is definitely the most entertaining system of this generation. I still enjoy the PS3 and XBox 360, but Nintendo really delivered with this one. I give the Wii a 9/10, the PS3 an 8/10, and the XBox 360 a 6/10 (Hardware issues).

Everything I can do on an Xbox or a PS3 I had long since done on a PC. Been there done that, bought tee shirt. I was totally bored by the same games a little prettier and found myself having less and less actual fun. As you get older the less you enjoy proving your dick’s bigger by defeating each and every other player at the FPS de jour.
I found the control system less satisfying and more frustrating and found that I could never get past the feeling that I was just controlling little pixel marionettes on a screen in a game that I was merely a spectator to and never really getting to participate in.

So in answer to your question, Hell yes, I freaking love it because can get my sorry fat ass off the couch and I feel like I’m in the games. So the short answer is if Wii Sports and Mario Karts were the only games ever made, I’d still prefer it to an HD console and when motion plus arrives I won’t even remember there are other consoles.

The people who always say that they stopped playing their wii should get mk or ssbb.Brawl is the reason I play with my wii everyday.

Is the Wii what I thought it would be?

Not exactly, I think I expected too much from the initial Wiimote and third party publishers abilities to take advantage of motion controlls. Third parties have shown a lot of improvement, and the Wiimotion plus demonstrates that the hardware is becomming less limited so I think it will be much closer to my expectations by the end of this generation (and for the next generation to pass my expectations)

How do I like my Wii?

In spite of the "Awful" line-up that people bash the Wii for having, I have enjoyed myself more with the Wii than either the Gamecube or PS2 at a similar point in their life; and I have had more fun with my Wii than with the XBox 360 I own.

My girlfriend and I have had the Wii for just over a year now. We got it with Wii Sports obviously, as well as Wii Play, Mario Party 8 and Super Monkey Ball. We sold Monkey Ball, Mario Party 8 is only fun with 4 players and I love Wii Sports.

At first, I wasn't that impressed with the console (but I bought it for my girl, not for me). After a week or two, I really got into the Wii and I started buying many games for it. Now I have Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroi Prime 3, Mario Kart and Brawl as my favorite games, and I don't think I ever enjoyed a console as much as the Wii.

I look forward to Guitar Hero 4 (though I think I'll get that one for the PS3), SimCity Creator, Call of Duty 5 and The Conduit, among many other, more obscure (read: Japanese) titles.

But there are a lot of things that can be improved on the Wii. Most third parties still don't get the Wii and probably never will. Online is good enough for me, but still should be heavily improved (Brawl is unplayable online). Anohter minor annoyance for me is that I need to shut the curtains at the other side of the room when it's even moderately sunny, or else the Wiimote goes insane.

Overall, I'd give the Wii an 8.5/10 Pros are multiplayer, Nintendo games and overall fun factor. Cons are lackluster third party efforts and online functionality.

I like it, though it´s so far my least favorite home system from Nintendo.
