I think mainly because of the lack of hype. Nintendo announced this game 1 month prior to its relase, and never showed actual gameplay footage. No one knew what this game was about until the game released.
I think it would hae been wiser to show more of the game and announce it at least 3 month before release. Now this game bombed badly, and most of the games released under the new announcement strategy also underperformed. Do you think that Nintendo should change their announcement policy? This game shouldnt have bombed this bad... Its been a long time since I saw a Nintendo game perform such terribly.
