Forums - Sony - Sony's Choice: EyePet funded over Eight Days

Has anyone began to think about why they would cancel 8 days? The game hadn't even begun production. If they had started production, it probably wouldn't have been out for atleast 3 years.

The big reason is, they need casuals. They have their hardcore studios and many of them. However, they need to get the casuals in. Sony can do a good balancing act.

And also, has anyone seen how many hardcore titles are in development?

Resistance 2, Killzone 2, MAG, Infamous, Motorstorm 2, Little Big Planet (debatable), Team ICO's game, White Knight Story, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, War Devil......

Thats almost one game per month till next year. Sony has a ton of stuff they haven't even unveiled yet. Yeah..... If they had another hardcore game, they would have too many games.

More than enough 1st party hardcore titles coming out, not to mention 3rd party blockbuster hardcores like

Resident Evil 5Fallout 3PrototypeDead SpaceFractureMirrors EdgePrince of PersiaMerceneriesDestroy All HumansLegendaryValkyria

Sony is being smart

@TalkingParrot: I don't think you can call LBP a "hardcore" title even with a good will. Besides, the list is irrelevant, since Sony is putting out casual games and that's all that matters. Casual games and cheap PC ports. LOL
Who says Team ICOs game will be "hardcore"? As far as we know, it could aswell be EyeCat, which actually is quite possible since you need more "casual" games for them to have effect.

So, LBP, Home and EyePet are now the most hyped Sony releases?

Wall of text, but from what I get from this article, Sony is abandoning the hardcore.

 Abandoning hardcore?  Your credibility just plummeted for me.  That's the funniest and most rediculous post I've read on here since I began using this site (well before the 100 some posts I've posted).

Well Eight Days and The Getaway on the PS3 to be completely fair. As far as I know Ninty has only canned one "core" game announced for Wii and that was Project HAMMER but of course even that is on the shelf.

But I don't think its representive of anything but business and things like this happen. That is why I like how Nintendo doesn't show most of their games until they are sure it's going to release or close to its final form.

Omg, what were they thinking really.

Your completely delusional.  Did you even read that list of titles.  Sure LBP might not be hardcore, but every other game on that list is.

  Your a Nintendo fan and your arguing Sony doesn't have hardcore titles?  Are you insane? Look at the list again.

@bdbdbd,

you are completely missing the point (to my eyes) :

Eyepet is not hyped. I dont care of this game.
But some others people (CASUALs) may care about it.

With a 400$ entry price, PS3 can't go casual. But when the price will drop, then, the PS3 will have to offer some casual games too like eyepet.

(and, NO, LBP is not casual ... )

@RolStoppable,

Except, Ninty abandoning hardcore was fully confirmed.
While Sony has 1 casual game for 10 fully supported hardcore games.

Just open your TV : Wiifit ads versus SC4 ads ... all is said.

Time to Work !

@TalkingParrot: I see sequels, casual games and unproven shovelware. What was the point?
