the ps3 is going to get many good exclusive first party games, i mean they have the most 1st party support out the big 3

Thank You someone who knows the deal

Sure they do... Sure they do...

The problem with Sony is that they seem to still be trying to find their way. They put out a lot of new ips but you never if they will start a franchise with them or just let it fade away.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

I see your point.
but they still have plenty ps2 games that they can bring over.

i don't see that happening in a year  :(

I like how Sony has brought new Ps titles to here.
Old ones are coming but slower.

Sony built the ps3 on new Ips like Uncharted, Resistance, Motorstorm, and Heavenly Sword, Now they have LBP and Infamous. What are you smoking? M$ and Nintendo need to take a page from their book instead of releasing sequels all the time.

Honestly all teh games I've listed are Million Sellers what more could you want?

Your thinking is so narrow minded I don't even know where to begin.

To start with, Microsoft has plenty of new IP's on the 360 like Gears, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Bioshock, Lost Planet, Saint's Row... all of which sold over a million so your point is meaningless.

Secondly, the 360 is not the only platform receiving big name sequels, or haven't you heard of MGS4, GT5, Killzone 2, etc...

Just take the fanboy glasses off and you'll see a surprising amount of equity between the sequel/new IP lineups between the PS3 and 360.

Most of the title you mentioned are either 3rd party or multiplats. Including Gears and Mass Effect(PC) hell even Viva Pinata and Blue Dragon are on the DS of all things.

Just for the record I dont consider the PC multiplatform (when I think muti plat I think mult console, and the games are different when they come out on a console and DS.  I mean Assasians creed came out on the DS its not the same game just the same name

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

That's the main problem with Sony. They have a history of making really great games, but many of them are new IPs, so they never really build up a strong brand recognition the likes of Mario or Zelda.

For example, going from Jak, Ratchet, and Sly last gen to Uncharted, Resistance, and InFamous this gen. The only one that has carried over so far is Ratchet.

Really, the only big Sony franchises carried over from last gen so far have been Ratchet and Gran Turismo (though only in the form of Prologue thus far). We have Socom on the way, and Killzone 2 (though I look at it as more of a new IP, because it definitely won't do well based on the success of the first), and God of War III later next year.

And Team ICO's games will probably be a sequel/prequel of some form, but the games will be so distantly related that Team ICO's older titles will have little impact on the selling power of the third, outside of extremely hardcore gamers like us.

Sony has two problems:

1. They do make sequels, but they pump them out way too fast. For Ratchets last gen? It was great for fans, but for many people it just got stale.

2. When they move to a new console, they tend to make lot's of new IPs, destroying much of the brand recognition between console outside of third party IPs. Just look at Naughty Dog, going from Crash, to Jak, to Uncharted.

What they need to do is get their developers to focus more on new IPs all the time, rather than just when a new console launches, while returning to older franchises maybe every other game, somewhat like Insomniac are doing now.

Imagine what would've happened if Insomniac had made two Ratchet and two Resistance games last gen. Resistance: Fall of Man would've been a system seller of sorts, and Ratchet & Clank Future wouldn't have been knocked as hard for being the same old stuff. Hell, if they went straight from the original R&C to R&C Future, it would've more akin to the transition from Super Mario Sunshine to Super Mario Galaxy, and Future would've been praised for all the added gameplay elements.

So, my point is that Sony should provide a constant mix of new IPs and well known franchises from it's developers, rather than having them pump out sequels way too fast for a few years, then moving to a new IP and never looking back. They just need to put more time between the sequels, and have the franchises span multiple consoles.

Personally I give props to sony for focusing on new IP's and not sequels if Insominic is making it you know it will be good

FYI De85

1) Saints Row 2 is coming to PS3, Dead Rising probably will too

2) Lost Planet, Bioshock are on PS3

3) Many have suggested Mass Effect will come also, as the IP is now owned by EA

4) Gears is on PC too (Epic owns IP), and MS will prob have to pay Epic big bucks to make sure it doesn't eventually come to the PS3.

Bioshock was announced for the 360 only they later decided due to sales to port over to PS3, Saints Row was an exlusive thought Saitns Row 2 is coming to thePS3.  At this time Mass ffect and Gears are a console exclusive just to clear this up

most of them are not system sellers imo despite being great games,

it would've been different if they were sequals to GREAT games that started on the ps2 -imagine Resistance started on ps2- because from what i see sequals are the games that push the hardware sales insanely IMO

i wish i could turn back the time and tell them to finsih KZ development before releasing it , that would've made KZ2 a big system seller

discuss -if u want :)-

I think one game being a system seller is really a myth, you buy a system for the Library of games or the console is strong in the type of games you like to play

This is all speculation. I believe they are all system sellers, just some more so then others. LBP and Kz2 will not disoppoint tho, nor will GT5!
