Forums - Sony - I don't see many people talking about this. LBP and Japan?

I don't think I've seen many topics on this. Does LBP have a potential of being a huge hit in Japan? Right of the bat I think that it would be the biggest title of the year for the PS3 in its home country.  It seems right up japanese gamers alley.

Does anyone else think it will be a huge hit, and if not why not?

Its being advertised well....it should see big sales but will probably be front loaded like most PS3 games have been in Japan

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I was wondering if it would grab casuals in Japan though. I dont think even possesses another titles capable of tapping the casual market in Japan as well as LBP could.

I think 1,000,000+ in Japan LTD seems reasonable

Any word on it being bundled in any territory?

LBP will be huge.

I think the reason no one is talking LBP and Japan is that they're expecting it to do mediocre numbers there, maybe even poor.
It seems to be a potentially massive hit or massive failure as I see it. When the Japanese like something, they buy it in shitloads (of course, this is true for all people an dnations but the Japanese have proven very unpredictable this gen) and in the oposite case they just leave it collecting dust on shelves (like the PS360...).

I think it will sell well as Jandre002 suggests (possibly over 1 mil LTD), but I will be interested to see if it is truly a system seller or not. My thinking is that it will bring in new PS3 users but will have an overall minimal effect.

LBP does seem like it'll either be a hit or a miss, after this holiday season we can really see what types of games/consoles are going to be successful. Lots of different genres of games are coming this holiday from all the consoles.

i dunno, looks very fun

It could do well for a Western developed game. Unfortunately, Western devs on a game is usually a death sentence for sales over there. Take Metroid Prime for instance.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
