Oh, snap. I thought they were awesome when I played them. But if they averaged below 80 on Metacritic, I guess I really didn't enjoy them as much as I originally thought. |
Yep.
Guess not.
Glad I could help you see the light.

I was saying this last year, does it seem like reviews have swapped between PS3 and 360? Last year the PS3 couldn't catch a break. This year the PS3 seems like its getting everything while the 360 gets nothing. I bet this game last year would have received 85-90 average.
Most JRPGs haven't scored great this generation.
The only valid comment I found was about the story being linear and sidequests not being tied in well.
Other then that, the reviewer was more talking about their own gaming prefences then they were rating this particular title as a JRPG.
I guess we will see when it comes out.

Yup I have to agree here I enjoyed blue dragon a lot. I found it had a charm that brings you back to playing JRPGS on the SNES. But then I like games like Lunar Silver star and lunar eternal blue

I meant RPGS this summer/ fall. Tales games arent really my style and i had hoped this one was better but nuthin had changed and too human sucks. Now this one sucks. Lost odyssey was a long time ago and i have that one. But thats not what i was talking about. i meant newly released RPGS.

How can you say a game sucks if you have not played it yet. Thats like assuming a comedy is bad because a reviewers didnt like it. The IGN reviewer said "..despite many poor design choices, I couldn't help but enjoy the majority of my fight to unchain the moon. ...it's not boring. It's just misguided." You should not decide how good a game is based upon a review score. You should read the review to see why the reviewer gave it that score. You may find out that the things the game is knocked for you like or vice versa. Many JRPGs are knocked for traditional turn based combat (which this game is not) and that is the type of game I like to play.
| Kyros said: When a JRPG does have huge problems, it is often the fault of developers I have played one or two and have the suspicion that what makes an JRPG is the problem. Generic storyline with androgynous main character Check. Lots and lots and lots of CGI and talking Check. Complicated and repetitive fighting system Check. Voila JRPG |
Fixed.
The reason why many of the JRPG protagonists are effeminate is becuase they are designed to appeal to the Japanese
Yea JRPGS have been milked and in a bad way, few to none of them have any suprises anymore. It reminds me of how sick I got of the korean mmorpgs, as they were all understandably very oriental in theme, RO was amazing mainly because it was much more Fantasy than oriental, thus going to the oriental theme areas of the game didn't seem like a "been there done that" deal.
I'm not sure about WRPGS, last WRPG I played was probably Baldurs Gate for the PS2 and I hated it because it was much of the same, like a cooled down diablo 2.
I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The same thing can be said about FPSs.
Oh, and about that Baldur's Gate game you played. It wasn't even the real Baldur's Gate(on the PC)
For Square-Enix, that's a good score. They release a lot of crappy games -- their highest rated games are typically their primary series (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest) and their money-milking re-releases of those games. A lot of their secondary games are crap, and have been since even the SNES days.
