Most JRPGs haven't scored great this generation.

The only valid comment I found was about the story being linear and sidequests not being tied in well.

Other then that, the reviewer was more talking about their own gaming prefences then they were rating this particular title as a JRPG.

I guess we will see when it comes out.

To be quite blunt, there haven't been any great JRPGs this generation. Lost Odyssey is the best of the bunch and while it's a decent title, it pales in comparisson to many RPGs of the PS2 generation.

It makes me sad, actually. I'm a big JRPG fan and it looks like FF XIII is still going to be the first big game in the genre this generation despite how many times it's been delayed. This could be the weakest generation for JRPGs in a long time.

Lost Odyssey wasn't a big game? White Knight Chronicles isn't a big game?

I think he means GREAT GAME. So far I agree with him.

White Knight Chronicles is coming from a very talented developer and you still think FFXIII is going to be the first great JRPG this gen.  I hope you think FFXIII will be out before WKC

So?  Didn't Haze came from a very talented team? And yes in fact I would not be surprised that FFXIII will be released before WKC. When was the last time we saw something about it?

I played both FFX and LO for the first time recently and played through them simultaneously and felt that LO was at least its equal and in many ways a superior game (better character development, dialogue etc). I suspect there is a certain element of nostalgia in any statement that says LO pales in comparison to many RPGs of the PS2 generation - afterall expectations have changed massively since then that one cannot reasonably use reviews as a comparison.

Kidding right?

Bloody serious mate.

Those elevator rides were godaweful.

I agree but those aren't loading times right? If you really hate those elevator rides their was always fast travel. Those elevator rides were there for a purpose. The radio sometimes gave you new quests.

I can't say for sure, but I think those elevator rides were loading times in disguise. You can't quick travel to the ship, from town(and yes I beat it, but I can't remember names, lol).

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

That's a big statement. I can't say I agree, but I do respect your opinion, and it almost makes me want to go back and replay the game.

I wish I had a large enough HD to install it, and I would probably purchase it again, but I just can't deal with the battle loads again, lol.

Haze was a game on the PS3, a system that is known for being very hard to develop for and I think Haze could've been a victim of poor programming. WKC, on the other hand has one advantage that Haze didn't, it's being published by the manufacture of the system, in this case, Sony, who unsuprising know a lot more about the PS3's artitechture then third party developers.

EDIT:Look at Uncharted, Resistance 1 and 2, and Ratchet and Clank Future. All four of those games were published by Sony and are AAA games

While you're right for the most part as far as the quality of those games.....just to clarify publisher =/= developer.  Granted that most of the developers of those games are very talented I don't think the publisher of the games (ie: Sony) have a great influence on the developer's work.

Sony don't have any influence on the game design but they can still help Level 5 with the technical stuff like how to program games on the system

I just hope Level5 hired some new writers since Rogue Galaxy. Go check out the Rogue Galaxy review on gametrailers, they go off on Level-5 for making great games with bad stories in that review. I agree. Dragonquest, Dark Cloud 2, and Rogue Galaxy would have been fantastic jrpgs(and DC2 was fantastic), if they would have given us a good narrative.

The stories in their games has improved since Jeanne d'Arc(even if you didn't like the story in the Professor Layton games).
