Forums - Sony - Two new PS3 bundles announced for Europe

Why are they announcing the first bundle two weeks in advance, and the second two months in advance?

They prepared for the first one, and didn't feel the need to keep the second one a secret? Besides, the 160GB version will outshine the second version anyway. It may just be a way of keeping up their "more value for the same price".

Besides, if I (as a gamer) knew that a new bundle was coming, only giving a movie, and that the game bundle was only available for a month and a half or so, I'd hurry to buy the first bundle (which will lead to sold-out if played correctly by Sony)

I think the bundles are meh to be honest. GT5P is a demo and that movie... ehh.

Does anyone else feel that this may be the company's way of avoiding a price drop?

No...its their way of surviving M$ price drop

i am not big on gt5p, but its still very good bundle, if only they had another game other than gt5p in the bundle.

The movie bundle probably coincides with the movie's BD release date.

Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis (English: Welcome to the Land of Shtis) is a 2008 French motion picture comedy starring Kad Merad, Dany Boon and Zoé Félix. The film has broken nearly every box office record in France: it debuted as the top movie with US$31.67 million at 793 sites. As of 1 July 2008, the film had been seen by over 20,2 million people in 19 weeks, thereby breaking the record of La Grande Vadrouille (released in 1966) and is expected to overtake Titanic (1997) as the most successful film ever released in France. The film has grossed over US$193 million in France alone.

Seems like a good idea to let fans of the movie know in advance that there will be a PS3 bundle at the same time as the movie comes out.

Sony have repeatedly said there won't be a price drop this year, and the 40Gb had similar bundles to this, so I'm not really sure what your point is.

Edit: Amazon France confirms the movie releases the same day as the bundle.

Darn, they sure are stepping it up with the 80 GB version, since this 80GB with 2 dualshocks and a game will surely sell out insanely fast in Europe.

With that price...NO

@starcraft

They don't need a price cut in Europe, they are selling good already.

The GT5:P bundle saves 40 Euros of the RRP, so a very good deal. Still neither are as good as the 160GB deal. 70 Euros worth of downloadable game content for the win.

What's that in £££s?

ie what are is the current price(s) of the PS3 in Europe.
