Forums - Microsoft - Braid a hefty price to pay..

Today I caved in and decided to dl Braid from Xbox Live, the game looked interesting. I hadn't gone on live for about a month so I it said I couldn't use my live account and had to recover it....

The cost of braid ended up as 4000 achievement points that I slaved away at this month (and the MS points). More than half my summer's worth of achievements gone (a good 3000 of them were Gamefly so I can't even replay them to get it back), I was worried my saves were gone but they were still there so it wasn't a big deal.

Luckily for me the game is so good! Well worth my 4000 achievement points! Shoot it could take my last thousand for all I care, the game's puzzles and gameplay are amazing and so fun. I love getting stuck in a level and trying to figure it out for a good 5-10 minutes for one puzzle piece. Sometimes even my mind gets twisted and I start getting confused (so if I change time now than...wait what huh?! how does that work...) Definitely my favorite Xbox Live arcade game.

Who amongst you would gladly lose your gamerscore for this awesome game! (and how much?)

Achievement points? Would you be so kind to explain? I'm new to XBOX360.

You don't use achievement points to buy games. The OP is trying to say that he got Braid instead of getting games that could possibly equate to 4000 achievement points... i think.

ahhh.

Actually he's saying he didn't go on Live in a while and had to, for some reason, recover his account when he went online to purchase Braid. By downloading his old profile, he lost 4000 achievement points he'd earned offline.

And to answer the OP's question, I would gladly give all my 22,000+ gamerscore for Braid!

I don't get it. Once you recover your account, doesn't it give you your achievements back though? Isn't it tied into the account?

If you've been earning achievements offline and then recover your account, you're replacing the gamertag data stored only on your hard drive with the older data. If you actually go online first, then it'll update your gamertag data on Microsoft's servers, but as I read it the OP couldn't go online for some reason and had to recover his account first.

So be careful when recovering your account!

i am so confused and yet completely understood what was said.

i have no idea why you were forced to recover your account, ive been offline for a longer period than that and didnt have any issues going back online.

i guess i wouldnt mind giving up my points... i mean i would be able to load up my save files and get the points back anyways

@badgenome yes you hit the nail right on the head! If anyone finds me confusing look at badgenome to be my translator

@onyxmeth, no I lost all the achievements I gained offline, and for reasons unknown to me Live wasn't letting me in on my xbox live account (probably cuz I never go online) so I had to recover it.

I still don't get it. Unless he recovered his tag on a different 360? My gold account expired before, and I have accounts that rarely ever go online. I'm racking my brain here!

Hey OP, Braid rocks! We all agree. The bigger story is how the heck did you lose your Gamerscore. Please give us a detailed account of exactly what happened. I'm begging you!
