| Kwaad said: I have a dislike for Nintendo as of lately, because their buisness model, has been based around makeing money, and not around makeing great games. Their going away from great games, to mini-games, and things my 4 year old family members would have fun with. I played Final Fantasy 4 when I was 8. I want to see stuff 2x more advanced, and yet, that stuff dont exist today. Nintendo, is makeing stuff 8x simpler. Sony is makeing stuff similar in terms of complexity. Now I'm not saying sony is god, and they make amazing games every time. They dont. I am probibally gonna buy a 2000$ sony camcorder here in 6months to a year. I've never had a problem with a sony product and from what I've read, their not that hard to work with.
Those of you sony haters out there. I really dont understand why you hate sony as a whole. Especially considering the major changes they have been going through over the last 12 months, and more are coming. Their a totally new entity almost. |
Sorry if you don't really understand why things are simpler. It's a pretty easy concept, its just harder to grasp from a gamers perspective. What's the best way to get people who may not be familliar with your product or 'frightened' by the stigmas attached to it? Make it easily accessible. Simple, accessible, readily understandable to those who aren't used to gaming. Good for you if you played FF4 when you were 8... what about those people who were 20 then? What about those who couldn't afford a system then? Or who are just now getting interested in technology? In all honesty, if you stuck a kid in front of something like a Ninja Gaiden from back in the day, with areas and jumps so frustrating it makes you want to pull your hair out, he could probably handle it. Introduce a new gamer to the scene with something like that, and you'll effectively ruin the experience for them. This doesn't apply to every person, no doubt, but for the general populace that's more or less the case.
If you're just starting out in something, anything, most people do not lunge headlong into the most complex thing they can find. It doesn't work that way. So while the 360 and the PS3 are trying to cater to those gamers who have done nothing but play games for decades, Nintendo is reaching out to get more people into the fold. While that might not appeal to you, as a whole it will improve the market. Why? Fresh sources of money, and the cultivation of a fresh group of gamers (or potential gamers.) If you want to believe that Nintendo is only making mini-games, go nuts. Just don't be surprised when all the other gamers are actually playing real games on their Nintendo consoles. (Shock!)
I myself don't have any problem with the PS3, more the foolishness of the Sony PR machine before the system came out, and the people who thought that 600 dollars was a good price point to launch a console at. Games are games, there are going to be games I enjoy that other people will complain about, cry about, whatever. Maybe one day some people will learn how to take life in stride and enjoy what they have while they have it, and have fun with whatever system or whatever games they enjoy, defend them, but have no need to start baseless arguements. If I had the money, I'd own all three systems, just so I could pick and choose titles from them all. Right now, I have none of them.
There's always a better way to look at things. Would you rather be playing a game on your favorite system, enjoying it and having fun with it, or be shot in the face because of the color of your skin? Or the religious customs you believe in? While it might not be the most desirable thing in the world to think of, sometimes you need to look at the bigger picture and be thankful that you even have a video game to enjoy.
