Forums - General - Russia recognizes breakaway Georgian regions but says US is causing tension

Well, if Red Alert does happen, the west at least have their super-weapon ready

Kirby, Ziss, how is policing you're own country an act of aggression? If a province from the other side of the country decides to revolt, wouldnt you like the national army to bring some stability back?

Now imagine that before the national army manages to regain control, Germans or English flow in from the borders to "aide" the riotters? Then decife to put a bufferzone with armored vehicles, tanks and manpower all the way to around you're capital, hundreds of miles away from the conflict zone..

Ow yeah, and they bomb you're house intentionally. With cluster-ammunition. Yeah, sounds like something liberators would do...

I'm telling you, this is why they are invading Georgia:

No wonder they want to take over. And it's all the US's fault for not giving Russia the fiber they need....

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Russia FTW! I agree with kirby!

@kirby: Interested in a vodkanight? Friday? Saturday?

This conflict is very confusing, and I can hear of nothing but conflicting information from all parties involved. I hear different accounts from Russia, Georgia and US. Since Russia and US are most likely being deceptive, and the Georgian President sounds crazier every time I read about him talking.

I really need to wait for some more credible information is released so I can actually decide on this matter.

If you are refering to US, Georgian and Russian media, then there are many credible sources outside of these three nations: the BBC, The Economist, The Globe and Mail, and so on. If you are refering to US, Georgian and Russian leaders, then I will let the Swedish foreign minister sum up Europe's reaction: “That the Russian government leadership now has chosen this route means they have chosen a policy of confrontation, not only with the rest of Europe, but also with the international community in general.”

I would not be surprised if Abkhazia and South Ossetia apply for admission to the Russian Federation. Russia is using the West's (sans Spain, Portugal and Greece) recognition of Kosovar Independence as a means to justify its recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. These moves are also popular with the citizens in Russia. I do not expect Russia's aggresive nature to stop anytime soon.

Why does the USA have to be the world police?

They used Cluster ammunition? Geez. I could of swore Cluster Ammunition was banned sometime after the US used it in Kosovo.

Edit: Guess not.  In 2007 some countries agreed to ban them... but Russia isn't on that list...  shame.  Cluser ammunition is dangerous to Civilians.

Why do you think the US is being the worlds police in this situation. France is the one doing all the legwork. All of europe is pissed about this, and Canada... and basically everyone not Russia or Iran.

Countries like Armenia are terrified that Russian tanks are going to roll into their countries next.

Well and also pissed off that this war has cut off their trade and international aid.... screwing with those countries as well.

Russia's irresponsible and illadvised invasion has hurt a lot more then just the Georgians.

Armerina and Azerbaijin are the biggest countries outside of georgia to suffer. When they haven't even done anything.

If this isn't fixed the damage to Armenia will be HUGE trading routes that go through georgia is about the only economic support they have... closing that will destroy their economy.

Also this likely will lead to it being harder to fix the problem of the last elections being fixed (hey another election fixed to keep a government in power that supports russia.)

It may even lead to them going completly dictator and authoritarian on the people, what after seeing the west not do anything in Georgia.
