Forums - Sales Discussion - NPD Canada July numbers, PS3 30k, 360 25k and WII 58k

@ TWRoO

There is a mistake in this article, the 19 million figure for X360 worldwide is through March.

Yes, latest figures, Dean Takahashi: "The company said it sold 1.3 million consoles during the fourth fiscal quarter ended June 30, bringing its total sold to date to 20 million units."

The PS3 outsold the 360 by about 260 thousand for this period. (1.56 million)

For Q1: 2.3 million PS3s sold to retailers.
1.3 million 360s sold for Q1 2008.

2007:
7.3 million in total 360s sold to retail for the year.
8.83 million PS3s sold for the year.

Which mean VGchartz again undertracking PS3 by 120k if you include last two weeks.

Yes slightly, but it seems the Wii and 360 are more overtracked than the PS3 is undertracked.

It's a small figure. By the end of 2007 total PS2 sales (860 thousand) stood at about 2% of US sales  (41.1 million).

There's a discrepancy between this month's Canadian LTD & YTD compared to lastmonth's.

LTD: June / July = Difference

Wii: 986,200 / 1,060,000 = 73,800
360: 840, 700 / 870,000 = 29,300
PS3: 487,600 / 520,000 = 32,400

YTD: June / July = Difference

Wii: 318,000 / 376,000 = 58,000
PS3: 170,500 / 200,000 = 29,500
360: 129,000 / 154,000 = 25,000

PS3 & 360 can be explained by YTD being rounded off to 1k and LTD being rounded off to 10k, but it can't Wii difference. I'm going to use the YTD data as it's more accurate, but there seems to be a mistake in either this month's or last month's data. It's not a significant difference, but hopefully future numbers will show us where the mistake lies. If NPD had adjusted their numbers it should have affected the both LTD & YTD figures.

So by now PS3 must have passed 100k in Mexico alone which mean Vgchartz is undertracking PS3 by good 250k.

Edit: Plz can any mod edit the title of thread and remove July figures?

PS3 worldwide shipment at the end of June 2008 stands at 14.41 million (sold to retailers).

We don't have data on July shipments or do we?

I agree Japan data has the best chance of being the most accurate considering we get data from this country very regularly (some before VGChartz' data is up).

I was talking about VGC numbers for the end of June.... which were (last time I checked) only 400k below the shipment for the same date.... so if VGC Americas is low by maybe 200k, then that brings the total stupidly close to the shipped number (closer in fact than the Wii when it is low on supply) so "others" is probably overtracked by about 400k to bring the difference to 600k worldwide (still 200k less than X360, which is should be more than considering it sells more per week, but there were some supposed shortages)

@2nd post... The LTD is actually 20.3 million shipped through June.

@3rd post... seriously just edit your posts. And I am about to do my own check to see if you are correct on that.

"The NPD Group says sales of gaming hardware, software and accessories was just under $920,000 through July, up 54 per cent over the same period last year."

Does this really make sense? If sales of just hardware were WII - 58k, 360 - 25k, PS3 - 30k, wouldn't this account for more than $920,000 already? Am I missing something?

Just kiss the tip.

PS3 undertracked! What? Surely not!

OT: Canada is a small market

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Bigger than I expected 360 sales for Mexico.

BTW, the 360 launched on the 2nd of February 2006 in Mexico.

The Wii launched on the 19th of November 2006 in Mexico.

The PS3 launched on the 20th of August 2007 in Mexico.
