Forums - General - how much is your school tuition for this semester

Free, full ride.

But it would be like $30 grand for the whole year...

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Tuition is about 2k with taxes and fees in it. Kind of sucks this semester because my financial aid got canceled because I dropped a summer school class. Which is bullshit but it happens.

I don't get it, in countries like Canada, US, Australia, isn't there public universities where you don't have to pay, I don't mean a scholarship, I mean that not a single student pays?

You'd think so but no. Like I said your best bet is to show you deserve the state scholarship and go to a public state school which makes it fully covered.  The prereqs. for the state scholarships are actually very easily obtainable, you'd have to be half brain-dead or just plain lazy not to qualify to receive it.

Man, that sucks, everyone should come to study here, the public universites are free even to foreigners

in canada most of foreign diploma are not valid that's so sad, i work with an equatorian phd and he is the janitor, he had to redo university all over again

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

@Chapset
That depends on his field of study. Many professions that have regulatory bodies (ordres professionels) don't accept foreign diplomas from the start, but they have a mechanism in place to regonize them by requiring certain additional courses from an accredited Canadian institution. They also require proof of proficientcy in French.

But it is a sin what we put highly qualified immigrants through in Quebec and Canada. Especially when they get additional points on their immigration assesment tests for having PhD's and get told by Immigration officials that they will be needed in Canada and when they get here, their diplomas get ignored and they wind up driving taxis and being janitors. It is a waste of potential.

@dogs rule i had doctors with me doing back their education because it was just to damn complicate to get their diploma acknowledge, you know in quebec they rather have young quebecois fresh out of school in their assosiation than foreign graduate that's why the medical systeme is in such bad situation both my mother and my sister work in hospitals and they tell me daily how bad the situation is.

The problem with that, is that the people who set the rules to recognise the diplomas are the same people who want keep their professions as closed and monopolistic as possible. I know, I am forced to be in such an organization (Bar association/ Barreau). It is not in the interest of their current members to have a bunch of new foreign doctors, but it is in the public interest.

you are absolutly right, we ( the people) should changes that for the better of the country, these persons are bringing new knowledges new experiences and we ( the people) are refusing it, and in my book that's a bad move

But it is a provincial matter and the current laws of Quebec usually delegate the way to determine who is fit to have a certain profession to the professional orders. The only way to change that would be for the National Assembly to retake the power to determine who is fit. Of course the National Assembly is filled with Lawyers, engineers, Doctors, etc, so don't expect too many changes soon. ;)

En tous cas, bonne nuit. :)

0$ public university FTW!

yeah toi aussi
