Forums - Microsoft - Are sony competing against both microsoft and the pc market?

Being tied in with PC games is not a bad thing just gives the 360 access to even more games

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Thankyou , thats precisely my point.............. the close ties betweem MS and PC opens up a whole new world of gaming for microsoft, and on top of that they have been obtaining ps3 exclusive games at an alarming rate........

GTA

DMC

SMACKDOWN V RAW

Resident evil

the list keeps growing, and microsoft get 1st option on most PC games, worrying times for sony if you ask me.....

The first two on the list most definitely....but the next two? c'mon

RE4 was on GC first, how could you call that a Sony exclusive?

Smackdown V Raw? y'know if Xbox had dominated and then the 360 didn't, you'd see alot of little piddly exclusives being lost by them too. Doesn't mean much, I'm sure Smackdown V Raw sill go wherever the market takes them.

Ok, so resi evil was not a sony exclusive, my point is.... look back to the origional xbox, they had no PES, no Smackdown v war (they just had those crappy wwe raw games) and lets not forget that GTA vice city and GTA san andreas were released much later on the origional xbox but now GTA 4 was released simultainiously, c'mon , exclusive or not, theres no denying that sony have lost a lot of games that were considered "sony" games , and lets not forget about FFXIII huh, as i said , microsoft now has the best game brands just like sony, BUT....... microsoft still have 1st option on most pc games (APB,  Huxley, Dead island ect) theres no sugar coating over it, these are troublesome times for sony ________________

Either way, Microsoft gets money from whichever system they buy the game for, so they don't care.

No they dont M$ doesnt get a dime off any PC game sales unless the game is made or published by M$.

@Ron

Perhaps, I personally don't think so. I think it depends how you look at the 360/PC relationship. Yes 360 gets games that it would not have, but it also loses exclusives that it probably would have had were it not for that relationship. I've never owned an Xbox, but I've played my share of Halo. If Fable 2 is fantastic, I always have the hope it'll come to PC and I won't have to spend money on a new console.

You feel that the relationship is leaning more towards PC benefitting 360, while I feel that it is leaning more towards detracting from 360. Suppose we'll just have to wait and see if Sony is in truly as hot water as you say.

edit: personally it seems to me that you're trying to justify what you'd like to happen, instead of just looking at the current situation and making a judgement call.  I suppose you could argue that I'm doing the same in the opposite direction, but then again I don't have anything that says I hate MS in my sig.....

Microsoft make money from their own 360 games (Gears of war, Halo ect) and they then sell them to the pc market and make MORE money......... sony are in this alone........... a sony exclusive is just that, A sony exclusive, who do you think is making the most money? a game released one ONE brand or a game as hugely popular us halo been released on 2 brands? sony are gonna start feeling the heat soon....... trust me

I'm sure they'd get a little something if it's a 'Games For Windows Live' title though.

At least they're not shooting themselves in the foot anymore by making Windows Live free.

At the topic,

I think it can sort of take away the big 'exclusives' of the 360 when it comes to the console wars. If I can play Mass Effect, Gears of War, Halo (1 or 2, a port of 3 is most likely going to come), Fable (I would imagine Fable II will come to PC too), ect, what's the incentive to buy a 360, Dead Rising?

While it may or may not take games away from the PS3, the lack of a real need for a 360 in my case turns my interest to getting/playing PS3 exclusives and multiplatform titles while saving the PC for the games that I couldn't play on the PS3. I think it could be similar with other PC people too.
