Right now I'm using the PS3 browser on my new HDTV for the first time and it's pretty cool (that do you want to run the plug ins question is annoying though) and so I'm probably going to use this a lot more now so I just wanted to know can the PS3 get a virus off the internet? if so how easily can I get a virus and would it completely screw up my PS3 and does the PS3 have any virus protecting software in it?

there probably are no viruses that target the PS3, however, it is possibly, but I wouldn't worry about it at all, as at worst you have to reformat your PS3, and that shouldn't be to hard.

Also, if there was one, it wouldn't spread to anything else, like your pc for example.

It will be a lot safer than using Internet Explorer.

Hackers don't even manage a single Hello world prog on PS3, so how are you expecting a fully working virus?

Unsigned code does not run on the PS3, a virus is a piece of code that is completely unsigned by Sony, so it does not work.

Bottomline: you are safe, but the Browser is not that good imho

You can't get a virus on the PS3 or Wii. The features within them are not of those which get viruses on PCs. People spend time putting viruses on (mostly Microsoft) operating systems.

Why bother making a virus for weeks, for an Internet that not even all PS3 owners can use? How can it spread to other PS3s anyways? Way too much work.

Also, Sony will find you.......and....you don't even want to know what they could do to you. Remember the Playstation Head?...................

Its safe, anytime im on the browser im surfing the porno sites which are full of viruses, so far no problems :P lol jk

ya I use my Wii online all the time, I dont think it can get viruses, so your PS3 should be safe.
