Hmm... Would you mind telling me more about Dark Cloud 2? I played the first one, but it just got too repetitive for me.

I wouldn't know where to begin, lol. It has pretty much zero connection to the first game, that is the most important part. The colors and environments look wonderful... well... it is better you see for yourself. :)

Opening to Dark Cloud 2 - Shows tons of gameplay.

Torillian, tell me more about Persona 3?

The only thing I have against it is that, it's kind of an unknown. Reviews didn't really tell me enough. I'd love to learn more. If I were to narrow my list down to 3 right this instant, Persona would be right in there actually.

Edit: and Torillian, i see you have Folklore in your collection too. Tell me more about that too?

I'll help you out too. Folklore is pretty good. The main story is short. It's an action game with RPG elements. You'll admire it's murder mystery story, the atmosphere, environment, etc. The story will keep you entertained, wanting to find out what happens next. There are two 'campaigns', but they are basically the same thing. You have two play both of them in order to advance to the end of the game. The game is pretty repetitive but fun for the most part. Once you find 4 folks that you like to use, you pretty much just use them throught the game, except when you battle a boss. Most of the folks have a weakness and each have their own element/abilities for example slash attacks, charm, wind, water, ice, fire, etc. Try and catch all the folks. You can also release their karmas to make them stronger or for them to use less consumption. It uses the sixaxis nicely, but sometimes it can be a pain like the balance one.

Persona 3 is an excellent game. You don't have to play the previous games. It's a dating sim game and an JRPG rolled into one. The dating sim part is when you try to level up your stats like academics, courage and charm. At morning, you go to school and take classes. You answer questions to boost up your academic stats or take exams. Around evening, you can have free time and hang out with someone: a classmate or someone from outside of school. Once you go out with someone for the first time, you establish a social link. Each social link is unique and tied to an arcana. The social links will help you make your personas stronger when you fused them. Once you max a social link, you can make a bad ass persona. It's a great moment when you get your first pixelated girlfriend.

At night, it's when the JRPG portion begins. The choice is yours whether you want to fight or just stay at the dorms. The battle system is pretty good. The bad part is that you can't control your party members. You can only control the main character. Sometimes your party members can be dumb, but for the most part, they are pretty smart. You can give commands to the party members like what to do such as support or act freely. If you tell them to support, they'll heal you and remove any ailments. They'll also boost your defense and attacks. Act freely, they'll do whatever they want. Also the knock down tactic will make the party members try to take down the enemies. Taking down an enemy, by it's weakness or critical hit, gives you another turn. Once all enemies are knocked down, you can go for an all out attack. Doing this takes a lot of damage from all enemies. They will heal you and other party members when health is low. Another bad thing is that there is only one dungeon. Personas are 'summons.' You can have around 6 - 12, depending on the level you are on. Each persona has their own weakness, strength, null, and abilities. You can only have one persona equipped, but you can change them during battles. You can fuse two or more personas to create one persona. Some of the skills will be transfered to the Persona created.

The storyline is great and the characters are well built/developed. You'll fall in love with most, if not, all characters. Enjoy the twists and turns in the story. There are also some festivals/trips during the game. They are very fun moments, pretty hilarious too. For instance, you go on a class field trip and you're friends decide to go to a hot spring. A few minutes later, some girls show up, but they are not just any ordinary classmates, it's the student president. You have to run and hide, before she and her friends find you. If she finds you, you're dead meat. Fun stuff. The game is in a day to day calendar based. It last one year in the game, but you are always going to wait for the time of the month. The game is somewhat challenging. If you never played a Shin Megami Tensei game, I recommend picking up FES and play it on easy. And if you enjoy P3:FES, try Nocturne and Devil Digital Saga 1 & 2.

Thanks Mirson. I'm probably gonna go with Persona now.

Just out of curiosity though, how long (in hours) would you say Folklore is?

I want to make an alternate suggestion. Get a Gamefly account so you can just rent these mildly interesting games, beat them and return them for more.

Just doing the main story in Folklore should take around 15-20 hours. Doing all the optional stuff like releasing karmas and doing quests should take around a nice 32 hours. Persona 3 FES should take over 100 hours. 70+ on the main story (The Journey) and 30+ on the expansion story (The Answer).

QFT.

I am still playing "The Journey", 3 months to go, clocked around 60+ hours.
