Prices are not corrupt...
Issue is the $ has lost a tonn of its value in recent years and as a result converting your local prices into dollars results in inflated dollar prices..........

400 euros were 400 dollars 5 years ago.
Now 400 euros is 600 dollars....

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

You still get it cheaper then here in Sweden.

In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird.
Now the world is weird  and people take Prozac  to make it normal.

Is marijuana the best medicine?

“If any creator has not played Mario, then they’re probably not a good creator. That’s something I can say with 100 percent confidence. Mario is, for game creators, the development bible.

Maybe you can hope for country to have a housing crisis, a prolonged recession, and a stagnant economy to make your video games systems look cheap relative to countries with better economies and stronger currencies. You only wish you were that lucky!

Japan is the cheapest, followed by NA, then Europe, then third-world

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Wow all of a sudden I feel so lucky to be living in the US.

I live in South Africa, and I always find it very interesting to look at price discussions etc on this site. Xbox price cuts, perfect price points etc.

I realise I am not really relevant on this site because of my location, but here are some of my thoughts.

Here on my crummy side of the planet, games and consoles are corruptly expensive. I am sure in parts outside of North America, Europe and Japan, there are places equally corrupt.

I used google to do some US dollar conversions to give you an idea of how much I have to fork out for essentially the same experience. Note, these are also some of the cheapest prices I can get online here:

40Gb Playstation 3 console (this is the only one you can get here):

4500 South African rands = 586.60200 U.S. dollars

Metal Gear Solid 4 (not special edition) from nice online store:

696 South African rands = 90.727776 U.S. dollars

Metal Gear Solid 4 at big South African franchise store:

899 South African rands = 117.190044 U.S. dollars

Dual Shock 3 Controller just release (I got mine for less than R450 imported luckily):

709 South African rands = 92.422404 U.S. dollars

Most games here are about R600 (MGS4 was extremely murderous to my wallet):

600 South African rands = 78.2136 U.S. dollars

Anyone else from outside the above mentioned areas dealing with corrupt prices like these?

Ha! No offense, but you got it good. Here in Brazil:

PS3 - 1,000 - 1200 dollars

PS3 games - 100-150 dollars

I want to buy a PS3. Hopefully, I ´ll travel to USA in January and be able to buy for the cheap price Americans pay and complain about. I guess it´s what they say, the grass is always greener on the other side.

PS3 games are decently priced in the UK. New releases are usually £40 which is fine.

They always drop in price quickly tho.

They are no match for DvDs tho. The pricing of DvDs is obscenely good over here

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Now I see why we are called spoiled American's some time. Dont know know how good you have it some times

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Holy hell! That is amazingly pricey. Hope you can score cheap on your trip.

With some of the prices I am seeing now, I wonder how the PS3 (and any other console) does well in the "Others" region. Oh well. I guess if people want games, they will pay no matter what.
