Little big planet is a level editor in which the things you create are interactive, you can pul them or push them. It's platform game having physics as the core of the game. I have to see a level editor having as advance physics as LBP. As for spore you can create whole species, so there's no real contest who wins in creative aspect.

There isn't a level editor on consoles (excluding UT3) that you have that much control over physics, but there are plenty on PC's.

I know, there's a lot on pc, but the combination of platform game with physics, level editor, and sharing them with other people makes this game a big deal for consoles at least.

Which is great and all... but for example when comparing which dunk was better.

You wouldn't give credit it to the second because it's good for it's level.  You'd judge them both objectivly.

You're trying to make a distinction and failing miserably. After reading everything you said you've yet to differentiate LBP from any other game with a level editor. Or differentiate it from EDITORS that have GAMES attached to them. I'm not trying to deflate the game here, I'm buying it day one and I'm pumped for it. But let's not call a Lamborghini a Jet Plane here.

Thank you, I came to refute some of the points ForeverCloud has said, but there is nothing he has said that has been capable of removing LBP from something like Morrowind (along with the many other examples given).

I am in no means bashing LBP, I think it will be a great game, but anyone that tries to say its never been done before are not thinking about this clearly.  Many PC games for years are releasing more and more to the customer for modding purposes.

So ForeverCloud, please again tell me how LBP is different from Morrowind (besides the genre)?  The only thing I can state is LBP has made the modding process more "casual" or "user friendly".

 



LBP's user created content is innovative in the same way as Wii's motion controls.

Think of it this way, look at both games pitches:

LBP: We want to make a game that thrives on user created content by giving them an editor that is great at physics and making Rube Goldberg type of machines so people can make their own fun and interesting platformer levels.

Spore: We want to make a game where people create a creature and then take that creature from a microscopic level all the way to galactic empires and give the user complete control all the from the beginning to the "end".

One of those isn't hard to do and the other is a very hard sell (in fact, if anyone other than Will Wright pitched it, the game would never be made).

This. 

Spore is definitely the more robust and unique game, but LBP will be more fun, imo.

I can't wait to play both. :D

Disagree. Before Wii's motion controls weren't used effectivly for games. Motion controllers existed, but they were horrible, broken and all together sucked.

While there have been plenty of effective 2-D platform makers.

Even then... that kind of innovation greatly pales infront of the innovation of Spore.  Which is truley revolutionary in concept.
