If/when the pricedrop occurs, what else do you think Microsoft will announce alongside it?  Rumors are abound about motion control (even though they always are), and they already have told us they held back Bungie's game announcment from E3, so I wouldn't be surprised if that too was revealed soon.

Microsoft looks to be starting the holiday push strong and early this year... do you expect anything else from this announcement?

I expect the 360 to outsell the PS3 in december. How's that for a bold statement?

I don't think there will be a big announcement. There are retailers (like staples) that are selling the Pro 20 gig still for 349. Microsoft will probably do a press release and wait a month or so before commercials start.

In any case, 199 + a 20 gig hard drive off ebay. (they go for 30-40 dollars) is trully great value for gamers.

They will announce it the week before Sept. 7th. They usually do it a few days before to reduce possible losses of consumers waiting for the price drop.

I want to believe there will be an onslaught of new titles unveiled in the coming month, because two major game announcements in the coarse of eight months is about as thin as it can get, and one of those was a confirmation of an already existing game coming to the 360.

That said the fact that Microsoft has barely shown up at any press event all year long when you would have expected major announcements has left me terribly gun shy. Kind of like a deer caught in headlights unsure as to exactly where to go. Do you think Microsoft is going to actually open their treasure chest, or do you think they are going to stay stingy.

Does anyone know if it will be a price drop on the Arcade SKU or 20GB Pro SKU? which one and are these SKu's are going contain the new Jasper motherboard?

i'm probably the only person that thinks this, but i think the price drop is a bad move. it's too early. wait for christmas! unless they can afford another price-drop (which i highly doubt they can).

Price drop is accross all 3 skus. All should get the jasper mobo when the supply of Falcon ones runs out.

The thing is however, I've had the first gen xbox...sold it and got a first gen with revised cooling sink in early 2007. I sold that one in June and bought a new Falcon one.

Falcon is head and shoulders above the older models already. It causes far less heat than my earlier models. So if you get the Falcon over Jasper, there really isn't any cause for panic. Just avoid the old ones...they are still at retail at some stores. (203 Watt power supply versis 175 for the falcon)

The price-drop may or may not increase sales. It depends TBH.
