What it sounds like to me is that you guys don't have it in an open environment, and rather it's inside a closed compartment such as an entertainment center or something. As long as it's in an open environment, it should never run hot and the fan should never make much noise.

same here. its hardly hot at all, and from what ive seen from my friend's 360, it runs a lot hotter.

Mine runs quite cool for the most part.. as far as i can tell.

i found if i leave a few games etc on the shelf with the ps3 preventing proper air flow it does start to get noisier... or on hot days. But that's really about it.

mine doesnt run hot. nor do i hear an unusal amount of fan usage. but i have mine on the floor next to the air vent, so that probably helps it stay cool :]
