Also, I wonder if this one source just got it flat wrong.
I cannot find anyone else reporting that the PS2 Singstar Disks will be playable as separate games. If this were the case, I somehow think it would be being reported elsewhere.

While I don't own a PS3, I would love for this to be true. But I feel that it is too good to be true.

I'm from austria so german is my primary language, and heise.de is probably the best german tech news page.

if i read the news article cited in first post then they explicitly wrote that reeves explained them that they will make singstar ps2 run with software compatibility on ps3 with a firmware update. The article also mentiones taht reeves said that they might look into doing this for other titles in the future, but there is nothing mentioned about a generic compatibility.

i said allready a few weeks back that they probably will go this way with software compatibility to build a basic solution and focus on making it work with special games (and then sell the games it works with on ps store). Especially the early ps2 games or games that did not really push ps2 hardware to the maximums will be easier to get workign in any software emulation.

I still wonder if the writer got it wrong ...since tech news and game news don't always see eye-to-eye.

Everyone else is reporting this as playing the songs ... only.

But we shall see.

By they way, is the BC emu your prediction (which I hope comes true) or is that from another source?

Who is skeptical about this report -- but hopes it is in fact true.

it shocks me on how big a deal people make on BC lol.

i can not get over how important it is to them

GOOD JOB SONY.

one weakness less.

now focus on getting ps3 cheaper to produce :)

a year ago the ps3 was failing badly but they a a complete turn around i have never seen before.

So only one game at a time? Are there any other games that would get a BC update that we know of , singstar seems like a special case because they want to increase casual ips.

This does not seem like news to go OMG BC ON PS3 NOW since only one game got it and maybe few will ever get it.

because there are a lot of ps2 games that people always wanted to play, moreover some companies are developing new games, in fact, I like to play some games more than once

Jeez you guys. You are reading way more into this than it states. It says the PS3 version of SingStar can use *tracks* (data) from PS2 SingStar discs. The article says *nothing* about BC.

I can't wait for all the "Sony promised BC!" whining later on, for all the people who read way too much into this, lol.

The BC issue really is overblown.

No, it's not. It's critical and I'm glad Sony appears to be addressing it.

edit: i'm hearing rumors it's just singstar ps3 picking up song data from the singstar ps2 disc... LAME.

What?! How is that lame?! No other music has done it before with Singstar and Rock Band 2 being the first.
