Forums - Sales - Killzone 2 sales prediction

Lmao at these predictions.

1. The game is a shooter
2. It is releasing in February
3. We don't even know if it is actually good yet

I will say 400,000 - 700,000.

Predicting 1.5m is batshit insane. That's about the amount of MGS4's first week which had more hype, had a better release date, had excellent reviews, and had high appeal in Japan, which Killzone 2 will not.

Shooters sell amazingly well in USA. Remember COD 4 and Halo 3 sales. They were huge in the USA alone for first week.

KZ2 will be a great shooter game and will sell huge numbers.

I would not be surprised if KZ2 gets put back until June so it can maximise its sales and generate more hype just like MGS 4 was so successful for Ps3 this year.

It was released right near the holiday time and it is one of the most established FPS franchises in the world. And you do know the total for the first week was less then 450k right?

Why don't you look at Army of Two. Or Battfield: Bad Company. Or Haze. Or Unreal Tournament III. Or any Tom Clancy game. FPS games are huge on 360 for sure, but not as big on PS3.

My prediction 500k to 1.2m in the first week.

500k in the first week if the game gets a review average of 80's.

1.2m in the first week if KZ2 get average reviews in 90's.

800k first week. I think people will be a little bit hesitant with this one and if it turns out good, or just has good online it could creep up to 4 million or so. Also, with it releasing in February means that people will have all of January to beat the games they got at Christmas and will be looking forward to the next big game and this will be waiting.

1.3 million first week, 4 million lifetime (we'll see a lot of Xbox converters after Gears 2 is finished.)

Edit:

This is the most hyped game of this generation, and is by far the best looking game of this generation.

"It's a shooter" is a point AGAINST the game? LOL what the hell? Think Gears, Halo, COD4. Thats might be the dumbest thing I've heard in awhile.

This game will be released on an install base of over 22,000,000 at the time, so basically the same install base the 360 has right now. Saying this game will sell 400,000 week one? Haha come on.

This will sell better than both Resistance games, and will probably only be beaten out by MGS4 and LBP in total PS3 exclusive sales.

The point with "it's a shooter" is that it is a crowded market. CoD4 had about 450k first week sales on PS3. And it was released near the holidays. Yet you think unproven Killzone will beat that over 3x because of a high install base? That hasn't helped any shooter released after CoD4 (Not including MGS4).

2,4 millions first week.

easily one million plus

LOL at those silly predictions. I think some people confuse the word "prediction" with the word "hope".

It will do less than 20k in Japan, about 180k in America and about 130k in Others.

My prediction: 300k - 350k first week worldwide.

i am going to wait a little longer before i start doing any predictions on this game

Metal Gear Solid 4 did 1.7M first week, on a userbase of about 14M. When Killzone 2 releases, the PS3 userbase will be about 23M. Given its being hyped just as much as MGS4, it should do similar numbers. It doesn't have the same fan base as MGS, but the userbase will be a lot bigger.

I don't know ghow you can compare this game to MGS4 in terms of sales. It will be extremely lucky if that comparison ever ends up favorably for it. There is a lot of positive press for it right now, but it also has a rough history to over come. I really think using MGS4 as the measuring stick will only make Killzone 2 look like a failure when it might not be.
