In Leipzig, David Reeves said it was 14M worldwide and 5.8M in PAL. That said, the numbers you provided are still lower than the supposed sales numbers here on VGC.

It's called time difference.

The figure in that table refers to the end of June... and the figure quoted at leipzig was a reference to that number because Sony will only quote the last official shipped figures.

So unless you believe Sony has not shipped any since June, you will have to believe the numbers here.

No if course they haven't stopped shipments.... they themselves will have inventory of 40GB PS3s which will have been shipped since then, as well as the old 80G with MGS4 in Americas region.... and I believe very soon  the new 80G will be shipped.

This site tracks sales to consumers.... sales to consumers at the end of June by VGC are 13.888 million.

Since then the rest of the PS3s from the 14.41 million shipped will have been selling, and Sony will have been shipping the remainder of it's 40GB stock which will also have been selling.

Like MikeB already said, Reeves said over 14 million which is exactly what Vgchartz has. Maybe there is a small discrepancy with the Other numbers and these 5.8 million sold in PAL territory, but overall the numbers are pretty much in line with Reeves' comments as well as Sony's shipment numbers.

I believe PS3 has sold over 15.5 million consoles. Sale sites under track the PS3 console sales.

Software sales are the most inaccurate data of  all. Hardware sales numbers fall within a 10% error. Software sales are like 30% error.

54 days of sales since the end of June. 1.1 million divided over 54 days, means ~20 thousand units sold worldwide to retail per day. Or ~142.6 thousand units per week.

Possible, but I think it's save to assume the PS3 at least stands well beyond 15 million shipped (sold to retail) as of today.
