Forums - Microsoft - Tales of Vesperia IGN Review: 8.2

I'm sure Edge will bring down the score quite a bit, knowing how they are with this genre. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 6/10 from them.

But yeah, for a niche jRPG (non-Final Fantasy), 85% is what I consider AAA status. Some games get excellent write-ups like this and then other games like Halo have tons of complaints in the write-up and get 10/10 on the score. I guess hype does factor in.

Edge and Eurogamer like to base their reviews on innovation, which is exactly the opposite of traditional. This being a traditional tales game, I fully expect a 6/10.

Especially since they gave MGS4 an 8/10 with that same excuse.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I keep watching the video review over and over. Tuesday cannot come soon enough.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Another AAA exclusive for the 360

Nice I'll read the review right now :)

You should. Written parts of the reviews speak more of a game's quality than the score itself

Word. It's amazing how concerned people are with the numbers.

For IGN reviews, I find the closing comments section to be the best for figuring out if a game is worth playing. The rest of the review is great for understanding the details of a game.

Now we just need to see what IU gets and then I will ultimately decide whether I am getting ToV or IU

How about both?

I'm stilling waiting to see what IU gets for reviews. I know the Tales was going to be Tales, but IU in still unproven.

Just kiss the tip.

That won't work for me as I am starting school in 2 weeks.  I am leaning towards ToV since according to 1UP Yours, ToV is the better JRPG(they still like IU though)

hmm, i might have to move this game from my "maybe" to my "get for sure" list.

How the hell did Dragon Quest VIII, a game known from using game mechanics from 1986, manage to get a 9 on IGN while Tales of Vesperia get 8.2? It just seems like Dragon Quest gets a free pass for not innovating

I'm getting it for sure!

Can anyone explain why the hell are us europeans waiting for this one until 2009?

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).
