Forums - PC - does that worth 550$ and is it good enough to play recent games

I recommend XP anyways, and that video card is a tad outdated. Other than that is looks fine and I'd say it is worth 550$ as long as it is easily upgradeable.
Some would say "But-but the DX10!!", which is bull, there are not many visually impressive games that make full and good use of DX10 yet and those who do would tax your gpu and RAM too much anyhow.
do you think that video card could support empire total war or a game like crysis?

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Support it? Sure, but it won't run too well, especially Crysis!
The Empire games require quite a bit of punch, but it is more evenly distributed on RAM, cpu etc, mostly because of the insane number of effects and animations onscreen at once.

I think you should definitely move away from the 8600 as reports are saying those are defective.

If it's running Vista + latest games, some more RAM might be necessary.

so vista is that laggy? wath if i use xp?

Vista isn't exactly laggy, its made to run on 1GB ram smoothly, so that means your game has 1GB ram to use, for the best graphically games, this isn't enough and may cause some problems on the highest end games (Crysis for example), even more so if you have a dated video card.

Consoles Owned: XBOX 360, Wii, DS and PSP.

Vista isnt bad at all really, but RAM is big with it, it takes a Gig of RAM and uses it to page to exclusively. So if you only have 1 gig of RAM you have some memory issues, 2 gigs is recommended, I run 4 gigs, no problems.

Also dump the 8600 and get a 8800GT, its like 150-170 on newegg for a brand new one. Im sure you can find a good deal somewhere.

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

This space Reserved for the Nuggets of Wisdom dropped by Bladeforce:

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

You could get a much better PC for the same price, or a bit more. With $650, you could play most games on high.
