Forums - Gaming - What is the greatest NEW franchise for this generation?

If you do not count Wii Sports which is a bit running out of competition.

You would have

Mass Effects and Bioshock and Uncharted as the possibly best new games
And Assassin's Creed and Gears as the new IPs that sold the most (And Assassin's is also one of the most innovative new games with a bright future all whiners ignored)

Around the Network

Portal gets my vote.

Shouldn't there be a playable sequel before we commit to our judgements to which is the best franchise?

In that case all other games are void and Wii Sports / Fit / Play wins

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Oh, and since DS is part of this generation, the biggest franchises are seriously Nintendogs and Brain Training, by a ridiculous landslide. I forgot about that little feller for a second.

Tali Effect.

Around the Network

My vote goes to Wii Sports on the consoles and Brain Training on the portables.
