Forums - Gaming - What is the greatest NEW franchise for this generation?

Hey guys,

what do you think is the greatest new franchise coming up this generation? My oppinion is "Gears of War" was huge. A new game selling 5.2 million units untill today on one single console is quite good. The Userbase of the Xbox360 was like 5.3 million when Gears of War was released. MS should be happy to have it on their console.

So number of new franchises is limited this generation. I wouldn't consider Wii Sports or Wii XXX as a franchise. LBP might be a success. Is there a game I totally forgot?

So what do you think?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Around the Network

Rayman Raving Rabbids (Rayman isn't new but the Rabbids are and they're the new focus)

I would say Bioshock. I love Gears and LBP looks interesting, but Bioshock is beyond those two games.

Um, of course the Wii franchise counts...

That said, Gears

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Wii Sports.

Spore.

Why wouldn't u consider Wii Sports etc a franchise. Is it because it kicks GOW's ass

I think so. I couldn't think of one but now that you disagree with me im gonna say Wii Sports / Fit / Play / Music, etc. WS is def. a franchise, its getting a sequel.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I would concur with you on that point...System Shock is not new. However, Bioshock is a new franchise.
