Forums - PC - Pc Doesn't Recognize Removable Disks

A few months back I posted about my Usb Micro SD reader not being recognized after I reinstalled Vista. Well I just used  my other PC to transfer files. A couple weeks ago I was trying to use a flash drive, and that wouldn't be recognized either. I just thought it was the same problem, and already spent alot of time trying to fix it without suceeding. I just got a new Digital Camera today, and its not being recognized as a removable disk either. So does anybody know how to fix this? I could use my other PC, but that PC isn't always available to me since it is the Family computer. Did something happen when I reinstalled Vista?

I think all of them are.  They all work on my other PC as well. My problem is that it doesn't show up in My Computer, or in Disk Management.

@a12331 The Usbs work with my keyboard and mouse. I tried both the front ones and the back ones.

Well I had ubuntu in dual boot, before. I could always install it again. Hopefully that works.

try plugging them in and then reboot your pc. if it still doesnt read them them you might have to reinstall vista

Hey!  You're not Soleron!

I have a couple of questions. I'm not suggesting that I'll have an answer if you do answer them, but if I can't help you, they may help someone else.

Do you hear the Vista equivalent of a doong-dnk (shell hardware detection noise) when you insert a USB drive?
If so, does Vista prompt you to install drivers for any of your USB devicees when you insert them?
Can you see your newly attached USB devices in the Device Manager?
Have you installed SP1?

And here are some suggestions:
I know you said you tried your keyboard/mouse on the ports you think are faulty, but try your USB storage devices on a different port. Sometimes Windows installs a bad device driver for one device on a port, and for each subsequent device installed, it will think you want to use that bad driver.
Try opening up a command prompt and changing to the letter you think the drive should have. i.e. If your last drive letter shown in Windows Explorer is E:, try:
F:
