Montana, do you see the PS3 really being able to surpass the 360 before 2010 or in 2010?

Why are you asking me? Do you really think I care?

Your video of the week is off by a week. We thought that since you stopped caring for that, maybe you started caring about other things.

We were wrong though.

Well I just came back from vacation and I've been playing a lot of videogames recently. Plus, some other sites are starting to steal a bit of my time. But I'll find a good video for my fans, or fan in this case.

JGarret: The PS3 passing the 360 is very possible by 2010.

Theoretically one would think that Microsoft should win thanks to a far more competitive price point. Bringing the console within the price range of lower income consumers. However it is still incumbent upon Microsoft to do a few other critical things to enhance said momentum.

Marketing needs to focus on the new price point of the console not necessarily the game especially since it is most likely for multiple platforms. Microsoft needs adequate supply in the channel. Running out half way through the first week spike is just about as dumb as it can get when you had months to prepare.

Finally and I think this really matters for both the PS3 and 360. The first manufacturer to unveil next years exclusive heavy hitters for the platform in a meaningful way will really attract the eyes of core and hardcore gamers to their platform. Frankly I am shocked that neither competitor has done this yet. Though it is looking like September might be the month for Microsoft.

Which will be the 360s very last chance this year to sell consumers on future merit. They have done the swaying they need for Japan. So the Tokyo Game Show is about as moot as it can get for gaming announcements. More importantly it is just too late in the year to have any effect on this years sales. They really need to start unveiling next years exclusives before potential interest evaporates.

So Microsoft has the price, but it is yet to be seen if they will market it properly, will be able to meet demand, and most importantly whether Microsoft will make a strong future statement. They need more then Star Ocean 4 on the horizon.
