The whole point of this thread, as well as the article in the OP, was to post which games are/were most influential, not to post a "my favorite RPGs" list. Try reading the thread before posting next time, bro.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Lunar:Silver story - was an amazing game, story was superb. combat was fun and easy. the music was absolutely amazing.
Tactics Ogre: March of the Black Queen - i remember playing this before Final Fantasy tactics. IMO this was one of the greatest story driven games ive ever played. the gameplay was pretty awesome too, was alittle more in depth than tactics which is why i put this here instead of Final Fantasy tactics (although it should probably still be in the top 10)
Final Fantasy VI or VII - you choose, both excellent and awesome.
thats all i could think of in the spur of the moment
Well here is my list
Ultima 1-birth place of modern state based RPGs with an overowrld maps and simple dungeons.
Dragon Warrior(Quest)-How can this not be on any list. Essentially the birth of JRPG.
Final Fantasy-Built upon the party based JRPG format.
FF4/6-The RPGs that really ramped up the Story elements and complexity of JRPGs. FF6 is potentially the Pinnacle that or chronotrigger.
FF7-Popularized the Format with western audiences also introduced the FMV/enhanced cutscenes.
That is for JRPGS
Fallout(first game by Black Isle, who influenced the market heavily, imo)
Chrono Trigger(a model for better combat system, and the first multiple ending game i had played)
Daggerfall(for the Bethesda approach to RPGs)
Ultima Online(as stated before in the thread)
Diablo
"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murders will foam up about their waist and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"...
....and I'll look down and whisper "no."
- Rorschach
My 5:
Secret of Mana
Illusion of Gaia
FF 6 (or 3 US)
Soul Edge
Tales of Symphonia
(lots of SNES games there)
EARTHBOUND!!!!!!
Ness battling Pokey for the fate of the universe, the pinnacle of rpgs. It's witty and unique style poked fun at western civilization, which opened the doors for comedy and satire to enter the realm of gaming. Where else can you fight a Dali Clock, a New Age Retro Hippie, scalding coffee, a struttin' evil mushroom, or an Annoying Old Party Man.
Fact: Earthbound is the greatest game ever made
