It could be. PS3fanboy.com sounds semi-legit. It could also be somebody photoshopping it all in, also.
Price cuts are usually leaked before the company announces them mainly because of how impossible it is to keep it a secret ... Most retailers need a lot of notice in order to produce advertizements and promotional displays. Between the management at the major retailers, the people who produce their ads, and the newspapers/fliers there are so many people who know it is impossible to keep it a secret.
In other words this is highly possible, but I'm not saying it is true.
Maybe I should return and re-buy my own 360 console at target, because probably M$ will cut its price within a couple days.
Got my PS3 back in February, but that's good news in general. I guess Sony cut the production cost by $100, so I guess they will be seeing around the same in terms of losses.

I think that we should check out the stores that sell games.
IF, this price cut is indeed iminent, then stores should expect a massive increase in sales for the next couple of weeks following a price cut....after that sales will drop off a bit but will still be a lot better than before the price cut.
Therefore, given an expected increase in demand, we should see the PS3's stockpiled......mabey given some more room.
Has anybody noticed the PS3's in any of the big stores stockpiled with greater than normal levels????
I dont think it will make much of a diferemce, maybe a slight increase in sales, but dont expect it to explode in sales at all. $499.99 is a start, but not low enough to really make a big difference in sales.
360 sold 10 mil at $399. Most new 360 purchases are Elites $479. Its going to increase sales. I expect at least 5 mil by the end of the summer if this is true!
