I believe it's a G but I play all my Wii games with no lag at all online, Me and Naz played a lot of Smash so my router was tested pretty well. The only thing I'm thinking about now is that I really want to play my friend David on XBL but PS3 might be too good to pass up @_@

Naznatips is evil! :P Btw some points to consider. Do you have a Netflix subscription? If so you can stream movies with an Xbox Live gold account. 12,000 last time I checked. A 20gb HDD on a PS3 is too small as game installs can take up to a quarter of that. Oblivion that means you. A 20gb on an Xbox360 is fine because there aren't any compulsary installs. So if you do look at getting one consider that you will need to pay for a larger HDD at some point.

I'd say it depends on your gamer tastes.

If you want a multimedia center, and you need wireless internet, yes, PS3.

The PS3 probably does have more potential as well, but I feel it offers less currently in the way of gaming library, keep that in mind, but only as my opinion. You'll have to check gamerankings and form your own opinion eventually.

You'll have to wait on your JRPGs if you got PS3. Plus you'll probably spend more money on your initial purchase, along with paying more for used games, and having an arguably poorer library of games, immediately available.

Waiting for a price drop in September is what I would do, if I were getting a 360, and you should also buy your console with the assumption that the RRoD is much less of a problem, and not something I'd worry about with a new console.

If you want a Blu-Ray player, then of course, the PS3 is the best choice. However, in that case, I'd not buy a PS3 until I could find one with full Backwards Compabibility. You'll want to play MGS 1,2, and 3 before you get into 4, and you'll want to play Disgaea 1 and 2 before you play 3. They aren't required, but recommended, and PS2 BC will open up a huge library of classics for you.

I already have all the MGS games, even the NES ones (well except for MGS3), JRPG's aren't my big issue as my Wii is most likely going to still be my main gaming console and it has some JRPG's, so I guess for a second console I would like something that can be more then a gaming console.  Home may be pretty cool, but yeah PS3 seems the way to go on all points at the moment.

I gotta give it up to you Max, your a pretty unbiased guy.  I thought this thread would turn into a hailstorm of FUD.  Instead, you have weighed the pros and cons.

I own both consoles and I play my PS3 mostly.   It just feels like a well built machine and it looks really classy.  Since my Xbox live ran out and I've got into medschool, I pretty much end up borrowing games and using free online.  This might be a stupid reason for you maybe, and you might have the funds to pay 50 dollars a year, but I don't.

Yeah I know all that and that was another good point in PS3's favor anyway, a HDD for a PS3 is cheaper then 360 and I want more space anyway as I'm big on Demos and such as well.

I guess I'll be seeing you in LBP? Look for Kai (Heavenly Sword) and that'll be me. Nariko (Makingmusic476) and Naznatips will be something wierd im sure. :P Join us or die!

I'm actually impressed at how relatively clean this thread has been going so far...

Anyhow, have you been doing research outside of VGChartz? I mean, it seems there's more PS3 owners here (me included), so that's bound to skew things a bit. From what it looks like, Squilliam is just about the only one arguing for the 360.

You might wanna ask on other forums, wiki these consoles, etc etc. Just something to consider, and actually come to think of it you've probably already done most of these.

Haha thanks I try to be as unbiased as possible, if I ever knock anything about a console it's because it's an issue for me IE a real problem not some fanboy BS and yes I do get much more enjoyment out of my Wii then when I used to play my roommates 360 but it doesn't mean I agree with everything Nintendo or hate 360, they're all great systems with their own pros and cons.  I've never had only one home console ever, I started out with an NES then got an Atari cause they were cheap at Big Lots lol, then got a SNES and a year later a Genesis, bought my N64 then held out till I ran out of games on N64 and got PS1 for FF games, then GC until I wanted FFX for PS2 and was really disappointed actually lol I wished I went with Xbox last gen.  Now I usually do get a Nintendo system first but thats mostly because theres always at least one game I've got to have for their systems and not a single one of their consoles have torn up and they're cheaper I always wait for the bugs to be fixed before I get someone elses console.

I've got college so I can't really spend much extra money on games and yeah paying for online kinda bugs me.

If you're tight on money, I'd go with the 360. It's been out longer and because of that, it has more great games at cheaper prices.

If money won't be an issue long run, it's really a choice between which console has better games in your opinion. I like the PS3 for what it'll get in the next year (God of War, LBP, R2, FFXII), but I prefer the 360 lineup right now and Gears 2 will certainly be an awesome addition to that.
