Forums - Gaming - I'm saving up the money which should I get 360 or PS3?

@Maxwell, you already have 4 Xbox360 games? :P

Btw The Xbox360 gets RPGs from *forget his name* the famed Final Fantasy producer director, currently Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon. Since I saw you had a lot of Final Fantasy games in your collection.

Also there are 3 other JRPGs due this year - Tales of Vesperia, Infinate Undiscovery and Last remnant.

WRPGs - Fable 2 is going to be pretty cool and its style seems to fit your collection.

If you haven't played Half Life 2 - The Orange box with Portal is best on the Xbox360 and if you like/love Valve the Xbox360 is getting Left 4 Dead at the end of the year.

Eh Little Big Planet is one of those games that may be really big or become an epic fail IMO but personally it isn't my style =

Since you don't seem to like the PS3 very much, why did you ask which one to get?

<snippety snip>

I don't want fanboy bias thrown on me =D

You're on the wrong forum.

;)

financially you will be better of with a ps3!

Now go fetch me a sandwich and stop waisting my time!

I never said I don't like PS3, I'm just being very objective so I get informed on all the details =) I don't jump into things without knowing what I'm getting. I could probably get a PS3 and UT3 with mods and mouse and keyboard support and be very happy with what I get but I want some good ideas of what is best for me, I don't want fanboy bias thrown on me =D

Awesome, I can dig that =D

It seems the wind is only blowing one way here. It seems a little unfair. Come on 360 people. Anyway, my opinion:

Last year I was in the same place as you, and I went PS3 after a great deal of deliberation. My made my choice for PS3 for the following reasons: reliability, family friendliness (I have kids, and the PS3 is better at catering to both kids and adults than the 360), backwards compatibility for PS2 games, Blu-Ray, included wi-fi, no further costs, the look of the machine (it looks great, in my opinion, in my living room), the open nature of the PSN, and a bunch of other, minor reasons.

The 360 almost dragged me in because I had several friends with one, and some of the exclusives looked appealing. However, as I could play many of those exclusives on PC, and I could not play many of the PS3 exclusives on PC, the latter was not much of a draw. Really, the only reason to buy the 360 for me was my friends had one, and that was seriously outweighed by the PS3's advantages I listed above (for me). So, I went with the PS3, and I could not be happier. It has been, in my opinion, my best purchase of the last year, and I use it almost every day for everything from upscaling DVDs to playing music and games, to making home movies, to printing photographs, to aiding tabletop roleplay (I'm a tabletop roleplaying games designer and artist), to playing Blu-Rays, to socialising. What I don't use it for is browsing the internet. As it stands, it's still pretty crap at that (but firmware upgrades keep on improving the service).

Lastly, as to the price: when I put together everything I wanted from my console, the PS3 was actually cheaper, and had no extra costs later for a service I believe should be free.

PS: If you do get one, buy a big hard drive. I've filled over 120 gigs already, and I'm adding new content every day, but perhaps I'm the exception, not the norm.

:)

You might have settled my inner debate, I'm liking the PS3 more and more with everyone giving me details (though I already knew most it's mostly peoples experience that I'm worried about), I'm only sad to be missing out on Fable 2, Mass Effect, and gears.

Well I love RPG's, a limited amount of FPS titles but the ones I like are in the style of HL(2) and CoD4, action adventure games are my favorite I would say most of my time is spent on those then anything else, and then arcade style racing games the ones without all the customization and more focus on the racing itself (IE no GT5)

If you're big on RPG's, the 360 would be the way to go. If you like action adventure games, Playstation 3 might be good. Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Devil May Cry all have elements of action (whether it's hack&slash or mixed with platformer).

Ratchet and Clank is an action adventure game? :/

Btw DMC4 and Ninja Gaiden are both on the Xbox360 for clarifications sake.

Tease.

There are many people that are commenting that seem to only own 1 of these 2 systems. Both badgenome and myself own both platforms and have suggested to u to buy a PS3.

Playing and finishing games first>>>>>>>>>>Then talking!

Opinions are subjective and just like moods, can change.

TOP 12: Deus Ex, Shadow Man, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturn, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metroid Prime, Zelda (series), Uncharted (series), FF Tactics, Persona (series), Demons Souls, Vagrant Story.

MOST WANTED: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Last Guardian, ICO/Shadow OTC HD

I spent a lot of time on the 360, me and a roommate used to share consoles and I used to be a big Wii60 user, but then life came along (messed things up) and I just gave him those 4 360 games and now I'm thinking of getting a system for myself.

But since my house is already wifi ready (laptop, DS, Wii, and PSP kinda need it) 360 would be 200+ the wireless adapter =\ so now things really swing in PS3's favor.

I have a broken PS3 (2nd time still not fixed) an Xbox360 and a Wii and two gaming PCs. (Well ones a multimedia/game pc with much lower specs)

:)

I personally ascribe to the notion that I value a system mainly for its main function - playing fun games and the best system for that is the best system to buy.

I also value highly the relationship aspect, one of my favourite things in the world at the moment is playing 4 player - (still working on the 8 player hehe Halo 3 over system link). Borrowing and playing my friends games has cut my costs in half for game purcases because we can share them.

PS3 is better overall technical package and shares a pretty strong mutli-platofrm library with 360 (GTA IV, DMC4, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, etc.), has its own good exclusives such as Uncharted with a very good lineup for future, but you lose Halo, Gears of War and some pretty good RPGs plus some interesting exclusives on 360 side like Alan Wake... however I get feeling from your responses you prefer 360 games/live and if that's the case then get a 360.

Reading the thread I see 4 or 5 pro PS3 suggestions, followed by you going "But..." which implies to me you feel the suggestions aren't suiting your own tastes, knowledge, etc. So perhaps a 360 is the better route - if so I'd wait and see if the price drop in September is true.

Or take the populist route and buy a Wii!

Or aim high, save more, and buy a gaming PC rig and play games like UT3 properly...

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
