So at least the kid is going to get a GED, but when his dreams of becoming a professional gamer fail (and the odds are way against him) a GED isn't going to impress a whole lot of colleges. If he wasn't liked in school and doing bad, he should have just transferred to a different school, and figured out what he was doing that made other kids not like him and work to fix it.

How do you know he is seeking a GED instead of a high school degree?  Most homeschooled kids seek high school degrees.  How do you know he wants to go to college?  Do you think it is hard to get into college with a GED?

It is kind of like he did transfer to a different school.  Some times it is hard for kids.  Were you ever picked on in school?

before i would have been angry at this kid's parents, but i've learned that no matter what you do to raise a good kid, some of them just turn out bad. i'm glad that the parents are still pushing a tutor on this him and hopefully he'll get his high school diploma through some equivalency exam.

i don't know too much about professional gaming... but guitar hero seems like a long stretch compared to starcraft and halo

You really are in an argumentative mood lately aren't you.  Were you homeschooled or something and feel some connection to the kid?  Most private tutor places don't offer a high school diploma when you complete your course selection, but the county or state should have a program set up so you can take a test to get a GED.  And he should want to go to college, because without it you are stuck with hard work like millwork or construction or flipping burgers or working cashier at a store.  And yes I do think it is hard to get into college with a GED, lots of colleges turn kids away because they only admit so many students per year.  Who are they going to take, John Doe with a 2.6 GPA or a home school kid with a GED?  And yes I was picked on at school, I don't think you could talk to anyone, anywhere that could truthfully tell you otherwise.  Guess what, they stopped because I stopped doing stupid shit that led to it, also it helps that I kicked a few of their asses on the football field. ^^

I guess the dumbass didnt take it lightly when people say they get payed playing games (and i mean game designers, people who actualy work and not just play.)

Quit high school to play Guitar Hero professionally and be homeschooled. This guys social life is fucked for life.

The kid needs a spanking.

The parents need one extra-spanking.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Well I didn't graduate from a public school (was expelled) and I'm working in IT making more than the national average. School really isn't the defining pinnacle of a childs life and I think it's absolutely damning when adults are so obtuse to think that it is. I was expelled at age 17. Was my life over. I'm 25 now and probably am more successful than 95% of the other students in my grade.

Do you not think that parents have the right to educate their child as they see fit so long as he gets an education and is not hurt?  The parents and kid decided together that there was a better form of education than the one size fits all government education he was getting.  The government education system failed the kid and his parents were smart and caring enough to allow him a form of education which better suits his needs.

Also, why do you want to physically attack the parents and kid because of there choices?  They are not hurting anyone and your solution is to physically attack them.  Do you also think they should go to jail?  God help you if you ever disagree with your local government on how a child of yours should be educated.
