Forums - Microsoft - If the $199 360 for NA is true, do you expect sales to go up considerably?

Rumor has it the 360 will see a price cut for all SKUs in September, with the Arcade model dropping to$199....with this price, the potential buyers might be those that really don't care about a HDD, HDMI, etc...do you expect sales to go up considerably, and not only that, do you expect them to remain strong for the rest of the year?, starting from the day the price drops to $199, of course.

Maybe 10k weekly increase for couple of weeks?

No, it will do the same thing that the clearance price did (perhaps even less because its the arcade SKU) so a small weekly increase. If its all the SKUs then it will actually push some consoles, but I'd say its more likely to be just the Arcade, if its anything.

I doubt it will even outsell the PS3. Then again I don't believe this rumor because a few people have debunked that picture.

As in go buy us some coffee.

Hmmmm? I've been looking at buying one, but not until Confirmed that the RROD is eliminated. Hopefully I won't have to wait forever!!(fingers crossed)

Nope, it won't do much. If it was 60GB 360 Then yes

It'll be the first system to the magic $199 price point, so definitely yes. It won't outsell the Wii or double the weekly sales, but I could see a sustained increase of 20-30k weekly on average.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Honestly, I can see a little boost but when it comes down to it, most people thought the initial price cut was it and the ones that wanted it bought it.

Just like the PS3s first 'price cut', right?

Yes. Then right back down below the PS3, a week later.

All console prices will go down if the arcade goes to $199. Otherwise, people could 'make' a Pro for less by buying the Arcade and getting the Starter Pack.

Arcades account for 10%-20% of weekly 360 sales, like 5-10k each week. If Arcade sales double because of the $199 price point, this will mean 10-20k Arcade sales per week, which is a 10k boost or so.
