Forums - Sony - Why PS3 backwards compatibility is bad business at this point in time.

It's important early in a console's life. I never had a PS1, so when I got a PS2 and the only game I had for it was SSX, it was nice to have a huge library of titles to choose from while the PS2's was slim pickins.
It becomes less important later in a consoles life, particularly with the sequelitis publishers have these days... you're almost guaranteed a better looking version of the same game on the new platform.

Around the Network

@Bugrimmar: No, they make profit with PSP and PS2.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

this is a dead horse that sony fans have ridden to long, face it it is an important feature when both of your competitors are offering it as a selling feature

You mean Nintendo Ds and Nintendo Wii right?

Good thought so lol.

nope even teh 360 is still going for the BC so to pull it is kinda redundent, i guess its just last gen like rumble

If it's important to someone, they will go out and buy a PS3 that offers that feature. I just don't care for it because I already own like three PS2's...not to mention I bought my my PS3 at launch so I already have it.
