Forums - Sony - Sony is the most innovative game producer

I think perhaps software-wise they are being the most innovative this generation - while SMG was innovative for a platformer it was still Mario and MKWii and SSBB were basically upgrades of their previous gen counterparts. The only strength in this department that Nintendo really has is their WiiSports and WiiFit games which are truly innovative - but really more due to the hardware than the software.

So I would say Nintendo is by far the most innovative hardware company while Sony is probably the more innovative software company.

My vote would go to Nintendo over Sony/MS as the most innovative out of the 3.

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

i dont you forget it

ninty is most innovative, but i do like that Sony tries something different now, i think they understood that people do want more then shooters, nothing wrong with being a bit casual.

Sony is the most innovated game producer for PSN, PSP and PS3 games. It first started with the release of Locoroco. The game was praised for its music and simple platforming gameplay. Then came Patapon, which was praised for its mix of wonderful art, music and action. At E3, it was announced that there will be squels to both of the games.

(not by me)

am I the only one who smiled right there?

no, you weren't the only one. I'm glad someone else noticed it...

I'm going to have to agree. Sony are the most innovative software company. They seem to be the only ones willing to release really niche games and give them a ridiculously long development period. Nintendo mostly keep releasing the same games year in year out. Nintendo produce some quality peripherals it's ture, but thats not software.

Who said about Sony stealing the home button thing from microsoft? You know the PSP had one of those before the 360 right...?

Yes

To anyone claiming that Sony is the most innovative i have the following facts to display.

Platformer: Mario Galaxy >>>>> LocoRoco
1st Person: MP3 >>>>> Resistance
Music/Rythm: Elite Beat Agents >>>>> Patapon
Sports: WiiSports >>>>> Does Sony even have a 1st party sports game that is not Hot Shots Golf?
Simulation: Trauma Center >>>>> Anything PS3 has to offer 1st or 3rd Party
3rd Person Adv: Zelda TP >>>>> Any 1st party PS3 3rd Person Adv (MGS4 can be argued as being better than Zelda TP but thats a 3rd Party).

Truth is they have lots of games ,a lot of them very original .....look at these:

-Flower
-Fat Princess
-Eye Pet
-The Last Guy Standing
-Afrika
-Savage Moon
-Little Big Planet

Along with the more traditional offerings

-Killzone 2
-Resistence 2
-Motorstorm 2
-God of War 3
-White Knight Story
-Wipeout HD
-Socom Confrontation
-Infamous
-Ratchet and Clank (2009)
-Uncharted 2
-Gra

And the casual games already released

-Buzz the Mega Quiz
-Singstar Online
-Everybodys Golf (at least in Japan)

I think all in all it makes for a very comprehensive and innovating lineup

I love how you present opinion as fact

We could pick out games Sony has in genres Nintendo doesn't for the rest. Is Trauma centre not made and published by Atlus?

If I said it was factual that all these games are better than the other then that would be in error.

But since we are talking about Innovation in software, gameplay and game design then I have correctly stated fact.

In the three genres you bolded Nintendo easily wins since they have more innovative in every aspect of game design. This doesnt mean that LocoRoco or Patapon or Resistance are bad, infact I enjoy all 3 of those too, it just means that Nintendo's offerings are more innovative.

Also, Trauma Center is completely fair game becasue the nature of it's innovative design is wrapped up in Nintendo's Hardware Innovation. If Sony had Innovative hardware then we will see games that take advantage of that.

Oh, and Please pick out game genres you claim Sony has and Nintendont. That will be interesting to see.
