Why? Would it be better if they made this better game on your competition's console?

No, it's the fact that a 3rd party developer can make better games on a system compared to a 1st party developer is shameful.

Why?

I could understand how it could be shameful to be just an 'average' developer on your system, but there are a lot of amazing third party games which are (realistically) 'as good' as anything any developer in the world could produce at the time.

If you own a restaurant, your Master Chef should be able to make food better than the other chefs.

Thats not a really good analogy ...

If you're a large Television Network should you be ashamed that you secured rights to the best new TV show simply because it was produced by an independant studio?

innovation = TeamICO

i think ninty is more innovative in the hardware, but sony in the software.

my pillars of gaming: kh, naughty dog, insomniac, ssb, gow, ff

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

Yours is pretty bad..

That's a whole different subject on its own. Here's an example of what I got out of your analogy:

Microsoft paying another company to keep a game exclusive, like Splinter Cell Conviction. Which really doesn't have anything to do with the OP. I think that is shameful BTW.

An example of what i'm trying to say is:

Sony should be able to make the most innovative games for their console better than any 3rd party. Which is what the OP is talking about.

Look at Nintendo, their 1st party games are leaps and bounds more innovative than what 3rd parties have done on Wii.

too bad the innovative titles don't sell as great as FPS games that involve aliens invasions and space marines.

Sony huh?
PSN copied Xbox Live
Rumble feature copied Nintendo's rumble pack
Trophies copied ms's achievements
sixaxis copied WII's WIImote
Even the f@#$ng middle ps button does exactly what the middle X button does on 360. Turning on and off console and controller.

Best innovating thing sony ever did is eyetoy but they don't seem to bother anymore. They didn't seem to bother from the start in my opinion.

im pretty sure he's talking about the games not hardware. besides, psn copying xbox live? how? they are just are trying to make their own unified online service instead of depending on developers like last gen. rumble? come on man, are you joking, they entered the console war after nintendo so they had to include rumble. did microsoft copy nintendo and sony when they joined the console business and included rumble in their controller? i dont think of it as copying. trophies, ok. the ps button was from the psp, where they put it and how it looks they could of copied, but the functionality they did not copy!
